    DEA PTT "Updates"

I heard that the next DEA 1811 Basic Agent Training (BAT) class at Quantico starts on Monday, July 12, 2004. Before they call you to a BAT, I believe they have you update your physical task test (PTT), like two/three weeks before the BAT starts … even if you just took it a few months ago.

Anyone get a recent call to update (non-first time) your DEA physical task test (PTT)? If so, then what did they tell you, and when did they call?

Also, where are you in your DEA application process?

I took my first test with a guy who was taking his 2nd test.. He had completed all the stages, but everybody has to take it again to make sure you are still in good shape. He was told he would get a call in a few days, and would be in the class in 2 weeks or so..

I still have to take my polygraph, and wait out the background investigation, which I am told would take around 5 - 6 months.

I heard that the DEA has gotten OPM to pick up the pace on the BI's. My DEA OPM background investigator testified to that.

My DEA OPM background investigator did say that providing very complete information to her was very, very helpful. What I did was for every person in the SF-86, I listed just about every contact information possible. Just to show you how through I was here's what I recall (of the top of my head) that I listed:
    *work e-mail
    *home e-mail
    *pager
    *cel phone
*even work hours, which was especially helpful for my friends who are teachers
*work phone (direct line AND front desk)
*work location and work mailing address
*home location and home mailing address

I also had this same degree of thoroughness for additional people who the DEA did not ask for. Basically, when ever the FBI, USSS, US Postal Inspection Service, Customs, etc., asked for some additional type of person, I added this person to a master list that was categorized. I then sought out a whole ton of contact information on each person. Yes, this took a while, but with all the waiting involved, it was one thing that I could do that WOULD speed up the process when the BI finally started.

Again, my background investigator said that my information was very helpful even though much was not necessary, more information could not hurt.

In my case I have had only one full time job for about 10+ years, and have only moved once, and that was just down a few blocks. So this, coupled with all my additional information held my BI to about one month.

I think if you have moved around, then more contact information would definitely help. At least that was what my DEA OPM BI strongly stated.

Good luck to you...I'm sure it is only a matter of time.

Thanks for your advice.. I am looking forward to moving along with the process.. I have one concern though.. I worked for a job, right after I graduated college, for only 5 days.. These days were all training, and I never got past the training, as i found the job to be not what I had expected.. So, I quit before my training ended.. I did not list this on my sf-86 originally, but sent a letter clarifying (with all the info needed on the sf-86)that I did in fact work there for 5 days, but quit due to the job not being what I expected.. Do you think that will be a problem?? I am all paranoid about it. Give me your advice if you could .. Thanks..

In January I, and about 80 other agents, had to go and take the entire PTT tests and another test, which someone said was the FLETC test, and a third test, all on the same day. We were told it was because of a lawsuit someone filed. All I know is it was a long day.
