    Justin-10:

(Note: none of this information that I am sharing is confidential. You may obtain this information from any FBI recruiter or from their web site.)

There are four entry categories to enter the FBI as a Special Agent: (1) a Jurice Doctorate, (2) CPA or can pass their accounting exam, (3) know a foreign language (and can pass their foreign language exam), and (4) Diversified.

If you enter under the Diversified category you need three years full-time professional work experience or two years full-time professional work experience with a masters or Ph.D. Under Diversified they are looking for experience in Military Intelligence, LE, natural sciences (engineering, physics, biology, chemistry, etc.), computer science, or computer networking. However the work experience requirement is completely waived, if you have certain Cisco networking certification. If you have the Cisco networking certification CCIE or the Cisco designation right below CCIE, which I think is CCNA, then you do not need any work experience. Also I think there are ways to get FBI-equivalent of the Cisco networking certification. For example, I know a teacher who had the work experience equivalent. He got to Phase II. I would not be surprised if your B.S. in Technology Education, which to me sounds like it involves computer networking, will suffice and get you into Phase II of the FBI testing under the diversified category with no work experience. I am not sure how useful your B.S. in Technology Education will be to other Fed LE agencies, but I have not looked into others.

From what I gather how it works is that if you have the base minimum professional requirements (3 years work experience in anything under diversified), then you get to take the Phase I written exam. If you pass, then you apply for the Phase II exams. If you are competitive enough, then you get an invitation to attempt to pass Phase II. I got an invitation to the Phase II exams (interview and written) due to my math background. I do not have any LE experience. I did not pass, however. It seems to me that if you get to Phase II, then you have basically got the acceptable professional background that the FBI is looking for. But you may want to be careful because you only get two tries at the FBI Phase II.

I am guessing that about 70% pass Phase I, then about 20% get invited to Phase II, and about 30% pass phase II. Then there is all the polygraph and background stuff.

You should contact a FBI recruiter in your area. They are very helpful.

God speed and blessings to you.
