You're the first air marshal out of a dozen I've heard talking who actually likes their job. Now if you could just remember to stop leaving your guns in airplane restrooms :p

u know.......that is funny. or dropping one of your mags on the floor when u get up. or guys losing handcuffs on the seats. lol
I never said I like my job Metallic4. I can't stand it but like I said before, the money is too good right now. As soon as my son is in school and my wife returns to work, I am out of here probably back to the road. The job is not what people think it is. ALL prior law enforcement stay were you are! Do not come over here!

After 9/11, the Federal Air Marshall Program (FAM) was the biggest "Free Badge Giveaway Program", in the history of the US. Anyone who was breathing who showed any interest could get a FAM Badge

I wouldn't go as far as sayiing that TomWollworth. Everyone I have met are all prior LEOs, either from a loacal PD or prior FED. They did not hire off the street. So don't be a hater, just hate the game.

We had 2 local officer go FAM and both got out after a year. They said it was the biggest Farse they had seen. One guy came back for 6 month's and left to work head of security for some big Airline Company. He makes $160,000 a year now.

I am not a hater and I do not hate the game .......
I have seen first hand the SUPERIORTY displayed by PRIOR law enforcement who switched over to the FAM program. I know quite a few guys who made the switch, mainly for the 1811 13/14 grade.
All I am saying is they felt, Most who made the switch displayed their DISTAST for the training, like it was beneath them to recieve training. Many displayed UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT in the training setting, this SECRET SQUIRREL Mind set only enhances my belief the FAM program in the beginning was a "Major Badge Giveaway"
The training is now more professional .......

Im glad to see that things didnt get any better after I left the program. I stuck it out for 13 months. I was lied to so many times that I was beginning to think I would never trust anything I was told again. I was hired in 01, and suffered through a long, cold winter in Artesia. The training I recieved was great. But shortly after I left Artesia they cut the training and if I wasnt relying on these people it would have been funny. I passed the "original TPC" the first time. I even completed phase II THEN I QUIT! I made several good friends in the FAMS and I wish them the best but I also met lots of goofs and I hope they are gone. FYI my office was pretty much all BOP guys and I hate to generalize but ........ lets just say I feel much safer now
Interesting. I was assigned as a Sky Marshall in the 2nd month of the program - IN 1970! I flew only international, got to lots of countries (Iran, Lebanon, England, Italy, Portugal, India, Pakestan, +). I was already an 1811, our training was 2 days - this is an airplane, here are 12 rounds of 110g Super Vel .38, good luck.
I did have several incidents, a couple of inteligence probes by the other side, but made no arrests. 2 months of that was plenty. I did enjoy the time they screwed up the schedual, leaving me in Bangcock for a week.
