    VA Police app. process?

Aloha all. I was just wondering if anyone knew how long the application process is for the VA Police? I just had my initial interview for VA San Diego & they couldn't give me a "realistic" timeline.

When I was offered a job with the St. Louis VA, It was about 10 days after my interview; but I'm told this was very fast. When I applied for a deputy chief position in OH, it was about 4 weeks after my elig questionaire that I got a letter teling me that I was reffered by the DEU, but not chosen (no interview). All I can tell 'ya is hang in there brother!

If the VA Police are hiring and you are interviewed then you must wait until every one is interviewed. At that point the chief will make a selection and pass it back to HR. Most of the time the VA does it all from the HR office at the hiring facility. Depending on the staffing specialist and their workload it can take awhile. Once you get past the interview and are tentatively offered a position you have to pass a physical and psychological evaluation. This too can take awhile to schedule and complete.

As an example my first VA Police job had me in the door two weeks after my application. This was 1978. After a long break in VA service I tried again. The announcement closed in early March. I was on the payroll at the end of July. This was 2001.
