    qualifications

im in the dep pool right now to go into the USMC, and am seriously interested in a federal law enforcement job, primarily usms or fbi, but am concerned about the mos i choose and would like to know if there would be a more beneficial mos to pick such as intel or go thru infantry and become recon, etc. I would think that this were true, but were just looking for some advice as to whch would be the best direction to take. I know that military life and LE are seldom the same thing, but teh discipline and tactics, etc would seem to transcend over to that type of field. Also, I am going to school right now for a bachelors in criminal justice, would this degree be a beneficial one? should i go for a masters maybe? Im just looking for some decent advice because. Any information would be extremely helpful.

What is your current MOS (Military Occupational Specialty)? Being in the DEP (Delayed Entry Program), you can still change your MOS... Most recruiters would steer you away from the Military Police... you get stuck on post for all holidays and things, when all your buddies are on leave. You could do something in intel... But I'd recommend something both physical and mental... Maybe something along the lines of what the USAF calls a Combat Controller... I'm not sure what it's called in the USMC.

    well

Intel is the tops...if you can get into it...you got it made.

Good luck tho...it is extremely difficult and you need to score very high on multiple tests to gain access to this MOS.

Be prepared to have another MOS to fall back on if you are unable to get in.

well at the moment im between mos's, i was going into the reserves, but decided inted to go full time, somehow i got stuck w/ motor t, its a mess. I scored a 93 on the asvab, and i got motor t, so i told my recruiter intel, but anyways i was thinking of going for recon or something like that if intel didnt work.

    usms

You might want to take a look at the qualifications for the usms ( www.usmarshals.gov )! I made it trough all of the paper work, interviews, background check, and pt stuff and I am here to tell you that they really looked hard at the guys that were 'over qualified'. When I was in Phoenix some of the guys had exceptional records, which only helped them to get hammered harder than the rest. When I interviewed that morning I thought that I would be D.Q. because I had passed the FBI test and had an interview with them several weeks later! I guess they don't want to invest their money on someone that will eventually want to go to another Federal job. The usms (from what I've experienced) seem to want a four year degree and a decent score on their test! Military is very helpful due to the lack of public testing!

Don't worry about the MOS when it comes to LE jobs. It really doesn't matter, just as long as you kick *** in whatever it is you do. And stay out of trouble! Same goes for your degree, pick something you are interested in and make good grades. Sure a PhD in Arabic would be good but only if you can make it through it!
