    Ex-Marine health questions

OK, here we go hopefully anyone who can help me can follow me with where i'm going here. I have a friend (and no this friend is not me) who is currently in the Marines. He wanted to be in the Marines so bad that he wasn't honest about all of his medical history. I know that there are so many disqualifying things on the medical history and probably every recruite lied about one question or another. Upon his discharge from the corps in six years he would like to be employed by the feds working for a federal police force and eventually a special agent position for an agency. Will his dishonesty on the matter of asthma and childhood allergies disqualify him because he lied on federal documents? I hope I have made it clear what the problem is, and if not i'd be happy to clarify. Lying is never a good thing, but would they even ask him about this in a polygraph test or any other part of the interviewing process. Tell me your thoughts, thanks very much.

I would be concerned if I were in his shoes.

Will his condition be a DQ from the fed position that he wants ? If so is he willing to LIE again to obtain eomployment that has to do with enforcing laws. "probablly every recruit lied about one question or another ?" That is a nice assumption if you had ANY facts to support it. I am sure there are others who have lied to obtain employment but that doesn't make it right.

mcsap has a point. Your "friend" could find he is DQed for dishonesty and integrity issues. Anyway, it's 6 years away, who cares?

I don't know too many people who were completely honest going into MEPS, as a matter of fact most of my friends who are doing USMC OCS all had at least one thing that they lied about. And 911, I think he cares because well he is in college right now in the reserves simultaneously and why try to pursue a degree that he may not be able to use. Anyone who knows if childhood allergies and asthma can disqualify you from a federal position?

Almost everybody has some type of allergy, and if he is a Marine ,active duty in the fleet and has asthma, and is doing o.k he will be fine..... polygraph questions are not to find out about asthma, they find things like drugs, murders, or involved in serious criminal activity ....besides if you are totaly honest you will pass, of course unless you are a terrorist. p.s I am a former Marine sergeant and I have 10 yrs Federal service within four agencies.......

seriously though, if i were in his shoes, i would wait to get out of the marines totally and then i would pursue employment elsewere, then be completely honest about your health. becuase if he lied about his medical health and then tries to find employment elsewere within another federal agency and he is honest about that one. well it could be a problem, being why didnt he say or mention anything about that earlier, i have seen a situation like this turn into a "fradgulant enlistment" and the individual was kicked out i think he had asthma though if i am not mistaken, but the patient privacy act only goes so far with job hiring and back ground.
