Stupid Taxi (cab) driver

This morning my team and me had to make speed control with the laser gun. I checked both directions incoming and outgoing with the laser. It was right in front of our station building.

Short after we started I hit a taxi driver with 49 in a 30 zone incoming direction. Around 30 minutes later I got him again outgoing with 52 in the 30 zone and our second control team stopped him after my info via radio. The driver was very p*ssed because he thought that I only check the incoming direction. But he had the chance to view the second team while running in the city before we stopped him. Well, with the very low fines for speeding in Germany he worked today for nothing than the state:biggrin5:

There was another fool who looked with a bright smile to me and he also thought that I only check the incoming traffic and pushed the pedal down after passing me - he had 56:nonod:

Ahh, 10 hours later I'm finally virus free. I always thought having a Trojan handy was a good thing.

Anyway, my wife apparently click on a link sent to her on facebook. Of course since it didn't work on her laptop she decided to try it on the main computer. I was so happy to find both computers infected with a Trojan down loader which quickly recked havoc on my older xp machine. I will have to say this was one masterpiece of a virus. It bypassed AVG anti-virus, windows defender, ad aware, and defeated zone-alarm. I found a program called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware that actually got rid of everything this Trojan had downloaded.
So if you see a link on your facebook from one of your friends that says, hey I didn't know you were on TV. Don't click on it or your husband will be real pissey!

So I'm working when I get a phone call from my wife. She was screaming that she just got rear ended. I had to tell to call 911 because she was in a different jurisdiction. Well she hangs up without telling me if she or my 2 boys were OK.

I call my supervisor and get OK'd to go out there. My wife and 2 boys were just fine. The car that rear ended my wife was pretty much totaled. The driver "fell asleep" and the front end of the car went up under the bumper of the Titan. The rear bumper was pushed in a lil bit and slightly buckled the right rear quarter panel of the bed. But that's all the damage to the truck. Heck, the boys didn't even know someone hit them.

Everyone came out OK and luckily the other person had insurance.

I have a question, I am 20 and have never had a criminal record, not even a speeding ticket. but on October 23 my friends bryce, Staci, and I were arrested at my house because my friend bryce left my house while intoxicated in Stacies car, and he crashed it into a mail box, and blow the tires out 2 tires on the side walk. Next he drove it back to my house, and thats when the cops came. and since staci and I were outside next to her car looking at it, we were also detained, because they didnt no what happened yet. they got there charges and I got mine. I got two counts furnishing alcohol to a minor, and an MIP. I peaded guilty to the charges and got an $871 dollar fine and 3 month suspension of my license. I've been going to school for a criminol justice degree, because I want to become a police officer, and I understand, what I did, did not help myself at all. I take resposibility for it, but I was just wondering, if I am still able or have a chance in becoming a police officer, I no it depends between stations, but I just want to no in general, if I can still become a police officer. Thank you.

Frustrated with college -- how to keep myself motivated?

As some of you know, I'm in my first semester at a community college.

Good news is that my grades are good. Bad news is that I feel like I haven't actually learned anything.

I don't know if it just this particular college or because it is a community college, but it seems like you can get straight A's without actually knowing or comprehending anything. Now I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree by any means, so it's not like things just come to me easily. It's rather that all the exams seem to test students' memory rather than their comprehension of the material. In most cases the professor will tell us the questions and in some cases even the exact answers the day before the test. So basically all I've been doing is to memorize the answers and nothing more. Then other exams are "open book", so you don't even have to bother memorizing anything. My math class is the only exception, where you don't know the answer ahead of time, but even there it just comes down to memorizing a couple of formulas.

More than half way through the semester I feel like I know nothing about anything. I can recite everything I read in the books, but I can't really claim I truly understand all the material. Ask me to put stuff in my own words or explain a concept, and I struggle with it.

I found high school and even middle school more challenging than college. I felt like I had to put a lot more effort into it to get good grades. Here, everything is handed to you. Maybe they are operating on the premise that we're all adults and should be mature/responsible enough to work beyond what is necessary to pass the tests. Maybe it's a "you get out what you put in" kind of situation. I just feel like if I'm not being "forced" to study in order to get good grades, then I won't study more than I have to.

So my questions are
a) is this typical for most colleges?
and
b) how do I motivate myself to put more effort into actuallylearning
something? Any tips on getting more out of college?

Thanks!

IL FOID Card

Ok, Issue:

My FOID card expired Nov 1, 2009. I was sent the renewal form, all that jazz, sent it in, they've cashed my check & now im still waiting for the card.

IL Deer Season starts tomorrow, and I still havent gotten my FOID card, over a month after they cashed my check. I've tried calling the FOID office, and it's always either a 20-30min wait, or its just a plain busy signal.

Soo I'm looking for some IL LEO's for answers ( i know theres an ISP or two on here )

Is there any "grace" period (30day?) on a FOID in any way?
Can I still possess a firearm under supervision of a FOID holder (im 25)?
Since mine has apparently been processed, check cashed, could they run my name and see that i have an active FOID? Can I even possess ammo, or is the FOID only to purchase ammo?

*Jane Fonda: Obama Funder Jodie Evans Met With Taliban; Code Pink Gives Terrorists Direct Line to Obama* by Kristinn Taylor and Andrea Shea King

[Note: This is the latest segment in an ongoing series about Code Pink and its co-founder Jodie Evans. Click here to read earlier articles.]

---Quote---
Top Obama donor and fundraiser Jodie Evans met with the Taliban in Afghanistan on a recent trip there, according to a report by Jane Fonda of a discussion she had with Evans last month. The meeting with the Taliban took place just weeks before Evans was videotaped directly handing to President Barack Obama a package of information about her trip to Afghanistan at a high dollar fundraiser in San Francisco.

The meeting with the Taliban was kept secret by Evans and her group Code Pink in reports she and the group posted from Kabul and in interviews with the media and bloggers about the trip. Fonda, a close friend of Evans, let the secret meeting slip in an account of her dinner with Evans at a fundraiser for the Armand Hammer Museum in Los Angeles:

Last Saturday, My dear friends Jodie Evans and Max Palevsky, invited Richard and me to join them at their table at a fundraiser at the Armand Hammer Museum in Westwood. It was a good evening for lots of reasons. I had never been to the museum and definitely want to go back. Clearly it is a courageous place, very cutting edge. Then, too, I saw lots of friends I hadn’t seen in a long time and I sat next to Jodie who told me a little about her recent trip to Afghanistan with an American delegation that included a retired colonel, and member the State Department (Army Reserves Col. (Ret.) and ex-diplomat Ann Wright). While there, she met with people ranging from the brother of President Karzai, Afghan members of Parliament, activists, to warlords and members of the Taliban (emphasis added.) Jodie is co-founder of the peace organization, Code Pink, and always willing to go to any lengths to try and find out what’s really going on. Bottom line: everyone she met with wants the U.S. Military out of their country. They feel our presence there has brought more violence rather than security. Please read a short article she wrote about the trip which is on the Women’s Media Center website.

There is precedent to suspect that Evans is acting as a conduit for the Taliban to Obama. In June, her fellow Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin hand carried a letter out of Gaza from the terrorist group Hamas addressed to Obama.

Over the seven years of its existence, Code Pink has acted as propaganda shills for the anti-American governments of Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez, Bolivia’s President Evo Morales, Cuba’s Castro brothers and Iraq under Saddam Hussein, as well as Middle Eastern terrorist groups.

Fonda has her own history of working with America’s enemies. During the Vietnam war she visited North Vietnam in 1972 and was photographed manning an anti-aircraft battery used to shoot down American planes. Fonda also recorded propaganda radio broadcasts for the North Vietnamese communists

In 2007 Code Pink brought Fonda out of protest retirement at a so-called antiwar demonstration held at the Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C.

What was in the package that Evans gave Obama at the San Francisco fundraiser? She describes what she gave Obama in an article at the Huffington Post:

…we were careful to make the package very user and security friendly. It was filled with photos, quotes, thousands of signatures (on a petition against more troops for Afghanistan), a copy of Rethink Afghanistan and our 25-minute interview with Afghan MP Dr. Roshanak Wardak from Wardak Province, who is adamant that the U.S. should not send new troops and rather, must leave.

Evans notes that she gave a similar package to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi who was also at the fundraiser being held in her city.

No mention is made by Evans on whether she relayed oral or written messages from the Taliban to Obama. However, it is a strong possibility given Fonda’s revelation and Code Pink’s history.

Code Pink’s image as kooky but well-meaning women committed to peace is belied by their words and actions. At home they work to undermine morale in our soldiers, their families and the American public. Abroad they work with terrorist enemies of the United States.

And one of Code Pink’s co-founders, Jodie Evans, works with President Obama. Is anyone in our nation’s capital paying attention?

While there, she met with people ranging from the brother of President Karzai, Afghan members of Parliament, activists, to warlords and members of the Taliban (emphasis added.) Obama: Professed 9/11 mastermind will be convicted
Nov 18, 11:40 AM (ET)

By DEVLIN BARRETT

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama predicted that professed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will be convicted and executed as Attorney General Eric Holder proclaimed: "Failure is not an option."

Even if a terror trial suspect were acquitted, Holder said, he would not be released in the United States.

In one of a series of TV interviews during his trip to Asia, Obama said those offended by the legal privileges given to Mohammed by virtue of getting a civilian trial rather than a military tribunal won't find it "offensive at all when he's convicted and when the death penalty is applied to him."

Obama quickly added that he did not mean to suggest he was prejudging the outcome of Mohammed's trial. "I'm not going to be in that courtroom," he said. "That's the job of the prosecutors, the judge and the jury."

In interviews broadcast on NBC and CNN Wednesday, the president also said that experienced prosecutors in the case who specialize in terrorism have offered assurances that "we'll convict this person with the evidence they've got, going through our system."

Obama said the American people should have no concern about the capability of civilian courts to try suspected terrorists. Attorney General Eric Holder last week announced the decision to bring Mohammed and four others detained at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to trial at a lower Manhattan courthouse.

Holder sought to explain U.S. prosecution strategy Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, where lawmakers questioned him along largely partisan lines over his decision last week to send Mohammed and four alleged henchmen from a detention center at Guantanamo Bay to New York to face a civilian federal trial in New York.

Asked what might happen if the suspects are acquitted, Holder replied: "Failure is not an option. These are cases that have to be won. I don't expect that we will have a contrary result."

Sen. Charles Grassley pounced on that answer.

"It just seemed to me ludicrous, but I'm a farmer, not a lawyer," Grassley said.

Seeking to allay such concerns, Holder insisted the suspects will be convicted, but even if one isn't, "that doesn't mean that person would be released into our country."

Critics of Holder's decision - mostly Republicans - have argued the trial will give Mohammed a world stage to spout hateful rhetoric.

Holder said such concerns are misplaced, because judges can control unruly defendants and any pronouncements by Mohammed would only make him look worse.

"I have every confidence that the nation and the world will see him for the coward that he is," Holder told the committee. "I'm not scared of what Khalid Sheik Mohammed has to say at trial - and no one else needs to be either."

Holder said the public and the nation's intelligence secrets can be protected during a public trial in civilian court.

"We need not cower in the face of this enemy," Holder says. "Our institutions are strong, our infrastructure is sturdy, our resolve is firm, and our people are ready."

Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., the committee chairman, supported Holder's decision.

Mohammed, Leahy said, "committed crimes of murder in our country and we will prosecute them in our country. We're the most powerful nation on earth, we have a justice system that is the envy of the world. We will not be afraid."

Tempers flared when Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., challenged Holder to say how a civilian trial could be better, since Mohammed has sought to plead guilty to a military commission.

"How could he be more likely to get a conviction than that?" pressed Kyl, to applause from some in the hearing room.

The attorney general said his decision is not based "on the whims or the desires of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed ... He will not select the prosecution venue, I will. And I have."

Holder announced Friday that five accused Sept. 11 conspirators currently held at the U.S. military base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will be transferred to federal court in Manhattan to face trial - just blocks from the site of the former World Trade Center.

Five other suspects, Holder said, will be sent to face justice before military commissions in the United States, though a location for those commissions has not yet been determined.

The actual transfer of the suspects to New York is still many weeks away. The transfers are a key step in Obama's pledge to close the detention center at Guantanamo, which currently houses some 215 detainees. The administration is not expected to meet its January deadline to shutter the facility.

In addition to the 10 detainees named Friday, Holder is expected to send others to trials and commissions in the United States.

Another, larger group of detainees is expected to be released to other countries. Some, the president has said, are too dangerous to be released and cannot be put on trial, and those detainees will continue to be imprisoned.

The attorney general says his decisions between trials and commissions were based strictly on which venues he thought would bring the strongest prosecution.

Opponents of the plan, including Holder's predecessor Michael Mukasey, have accused him of adopting a "pre-9/11" approach to terrorism.

Holder emphatically denied that.

"We are at war, and we will use every instrument of national power - civilian, military, law enforcement, intelligence, diplomatic and others - to win," Holder said.

Also at the hearing, Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer of New York, got assurances from the attorney general that he would support the Obama administration helping pay any extra security costs incurred by city authorities to help safeguard the terror trials.
