Finally!!

Well, finally got a call today from one of my applications for Part-Time EMT here in the Panhandle! Life Guard Ambulance Company called me for an interview this coming Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at noon! YAY!

From what I can tell, they pay pretty dang good and I should make WELL OVER the hourly rate there that I do as a cop! LOL

And before everyone asks, no, I'm not going to go do that full time. I think I would get burned out on EMT work LONG before I would doing law enforcement work. So, the main job for me will still be in Law Enforcement, but wish me luck with the part-time EMT gig!

I'll definitely keep everyone posted!

Nice! congrats...seriously! Such jobs are extremely rare here, and non-existent for someone who is newly licensed.

Congrats Paul!! I myself am looking into taking the EMT course here that starts the beginning of the year. I have limited money and time and the EMT course has a better schedule for me and is a lot cheaper than BLET.

I still want to go to BLET to be a cop but thats having to be put on the back burner for awhile, mostly for monetary reasons.

And you are correct, the pay for EMTs is incredible with 100s of job openings every week.

Good luck to you and keep us posted on how it goes and how you like it.

Cris

Sorry so long in getting back to this thread, but here's the update as far as I know it...

Had my interview on Monday, showed up 10 minutes early and was brought right in to sit down! Three person board, easy questions, such as "Define quality and give examples of how you would bring it to our organization", "What is the most important part of an organization like ours and what part does it play in making the organization great", "Why are you the person for this job?"

So, that lasted about 15 minutes, the whole time which I had them laughing (I think it's a good sign if you can make interviewers laugh!) and NOT 'cause I had a funny tie on or anything!

When the interview was over, they asked if I had any questions for them, and I asked a question about working part-time, how did it work. They answered and then asked if I had anything else, so I asked simply "When can I start?" (Too cocky? Lemme know....)

They did tell me that everyone should be notified by around next monday (Nov 3rd) so I'll post another update then.

Wish me luck! I'm getting pretty excited!
