I was on a call the other day and the patients implanted AED went off several times.
Just curious, if you are touching the patient, and it fires, can it shock you?

It shouldn't be able to shock you. Since it's an implanted AED, that would say to me that it's got two leads, one on either side of the heart. Since those leads must also be implanted, and electricity takes the path of least resistance, then I would guess that the electricity would stay within the patient.
But then again, I haven't ever experienced it, so I could just be talking out my a$$...
Heck, I was wrong on the airplane on a treadmill thing! :p

I do not believe you can be shocked. Everything is internal and the probes are specifically placed to get the small shock exactly where it needs to be.
