    Any Paramedics here?

Just curious if we have any Paramedics (EMT-P) on board here...?

I'm thinking of just saying f it and go onto the medic class but I don't think I have the time for it...

Not quite yet- should have my license NEXT year. Right now I just get to stick my classmates with lots of needles

I've had some people say paramedic school is easier than the EMT-B course they took. That is usually from those that were EMT-Bs for a while.

There's a few ways you can get your EMT-P education in CA. Through a JC- it's going to take you a year and a half - two years. Through a private school you will pay thousands more but can get it done in as little as 8 months. Someone that gets it done in 8 months usually has had a decent amount of street experience. CA requires a certain amount of hours- regardless of what you choose.

The schools out here are broken up into didactic, clinical and field internship. Didactic usually takes about 3 days a week, 8 hours a day for 6 months straight. Clinicals and field work you can schedule however you wish, or how the agency you are coupled with wishes- as long as you put in the 2k+ hours between both.

There's a lot of reading. Tons=) When we started our studies the instructor asked how many of us were married, had kids were in a long term relationship because they usually always have at least one divorce or breakup in each class. Amazingly- all 12 of our class have no obligations.

Dunno if that is what you were looking for...

When I worked EMS as an EMT-B, there was a shortage of Paramedics. The service was willing to pay for medic school and your time to go. I was a pretty good deal, but EVERY paramedic I have ever worked with was trying to do something else, fire fighter, cop, PA, RN, etc. IMO, medic school is a lot of time, and working as a medic has a lot of liability to do for a few years just to try to get into another career later. If you like the medical field, go to school and get your RN, double your income and never worry about finding a job.

    Hey "Denise"

I hear you could make more money on your back than spamming websites. Or you'd starve to death. Hopefully the latter.
