    National Registry cracks me up/question

So I try to reregister for a new test and I get this message

    EMT-Basic Application

Our records indicate your last exam was on 1/4/2008 which means it has only been 14 day(s) since your last examination. NREMT policy states you must wait at least 14 days before you complete an application to test again.
Please wait at least 0 day(s) before attempting to complete another online application to test.

I'll give it a few more hours....

Question, what states do NOT require the National Registry? Meaning I could take my certificate and work as an EMT?

    Hockey,

Move down here to Florida. The weather is nicer and we don't require NR standards for EMT. Although I'm pretty sure you'd have to pass the Florida exam, but it is probably better than the NR test.

Also, you wouldn't be an EMT-Basic here, we don't have that level. EMT and then Paramedic is our progression here.

Maryland does not require NR at the EMT-Basic level. It does at EMT-I and EMT-P, however.

We have a reciprocity process for people who are already certified in other states, but I don't know what the process is if you don't have another state's cert already (if it's even possible).

And yeah, NR blows. I was on the phone with them four different times today alone.

Illinois also doesn't require the NREMT. We suspended our state test for a while due to budget issues, but its back. I took the NREMT and didn't have a problem with it, but i've heard plenty of complaints about it.

All states have EMT-basics. There are 3 license levels. EMT-B (Basic), EMT-I (Intermediate) , and EMT-P (Paramedic)

A lot of places don't use Intermediates anymore. There are some places that have Critical Care and other grades in between I and P but those are the three license levels.

I would love to move to Florida. I am Maine licensed and NREMT licensed at the Basic level so I was wondering what the job outlook and the pay rate I could expect is?

No sharks in Orlando;) That's where I'm headed in a little over a week (and still trying to find a condo:eek. I don't think I'll miss the snow; been seeing a lot since I got back from five days of 70s, and I knew I wasn't going to miss it the last time I came back to snow after 4 days of it.

I will take the sharks, hurricanes, and alligators over this snow and cold we have been having all winter. This has been the worse winter in history. We have had almost 100 inches of snow so far and our normal snowfall is 70 inches for the year. I am ready for a permanent move to Florida.
