Hockey, If I passed, you can too. The part that sucks (just like my test) is it's on Friday so you have the weekend to wait. Just a word of advice, I spent the whole weekend re-thinking all the questions, don't, or atleast try not to, it makes the wait worse.

Hockey, sorry to hear.:(
If you don't mind my offering an idea, give the “EMT Achieve” a try. You can find it here: http://myphlip.pearsoncmg.com/alttes...fm?vbookid=577
It costs about $30 but you get a lot of practice tests and it shows you what you need to study (and also gives you the right answer). I used it and really think it helped. The “basic tests” are 150 questions covering everything the others are 20 questions each.

Mods, sorry if this counts as an ad, I just truly think it helps

Hey all thanks

Yeah I've been looking around at different study guides. I don't know really, just the NR was totally 100% different then I could have ever thought. Tomorrow when I get up, I'll post a few of the questions that I remember made me go WTF.

The class I flew by in. I did REALLY good like I said. Like MDEMT said before, the NR is pointless and a waste of money and time IMO.

Oh well...yeah its really let me down. Especially when you have to wait 14 (10 days from today) before I can reapply

Seriously, give me the ^&%^&@!*$(@ test NOW!

Like I said, its a kick in the shins but I'll retake it and pass it. I just REALLY need a job now...

I will be obtaining my Master's in May and I can honestly tell you that the EMT national registry test is still one of the hardest I have ever taken. It is not necessarily the material, but simply the format of the test. One will come to learn, that although it is multiple choice, 2 of the answers will be correct, but 1 of them is more correct. It is a bit retarded, but I guess I know why they do such.

I don't want to scare anyone, you just need to make sure you know the material. It is a great idea to get some practice tests to get used to the format.

I now teach First Responder, which is also National Registry in TN, and my students know the book material back to front. I also give the multiple tests throughout the 60 hr course.

Best of luck..

Thanks Scott.

Yup I agree. The thing about the NR is its on a NATIONAL STANDARD. Because they don't know what you were taught.

Is NR testing for MFR new? I never knew you had to be NR for MFR

One thing to definitely keep in mind: the test asks about the national standard curriculum. If you answer according to a state protocol which is different, you will get that answer wrong--even though your answer is actually correct when you are in the field on call in your state! My instructor taught the state protocols in her class SEPARATELY from the EMT-B class AFTER we took the exam and passed so that people would not be confused and fail because they used state protocol on the test instead of the national standard curriculum. I know that trips a lot of people up, sometimes even people who have been EMT's for a while already. Also, be sure you are answering within your scope of practice. If one answer is correct but is only in the scope of practice for an EMT Intermediate or a Paramedic that does NOT mean it is correct for YOU. The test wants to know what YOU would do as an EMT Basic. That is another thing that trips a lot of people up. Don't feel bad, it's a tough test. For what it's worth I had to retake my practical because I was so nervous I forgot a critical skill. Good luck.
