What is the sickest thing you've seen?

I am kinda wondering about the best story here...


Dead bodies, GSW's all that doesn't bother me too much. But the other day riding with a medic-deputy, we rolled up with an ambulance flagging us down. So we get out and go whats going on? The EMT goes well she has an infection. So of course we're both like :rolleyes: whatever kinda deal. Thats when the EMT is like no! she has a BAD INFECTION! At this point she raises the sheet off her leg and it is BLACK!!! From her knee down is totaly black...Mummified is the best word.
Its a very old lady and she couldn't be stomach to back 3 inches. The family is middle class and not your typcial "neglect" looking family if you wanna call it that. The family says oh she just wanted to die at home and we didn't think it is that bad...:rolleyes: . So we rode in the ambulance and the entire way there we were both wanting to throw up. Gangreene=yuck. Anyways that was the worst i've seen anything and the medic deputy said that was the worst he's seen in his 15 years. I'd post a picture of what it most likely looked like but it would make the stomachs weak and throw up.

The nastiest thing I've seen was a smashed head. It was still connected to the body, however, it had been totally smashed causing all of its contents to pile in the passenger floorboard. Interestingly, other than where the skin split when the cranium got crushed, the skin was mostly normal. The rest of the body was fine except for a deep, yet dry, laceration to the left leg. (It may have been his left are. I can't remember.) It was a black guy with long dreadlocks so the harido made the overall appearance of the scene even more gruesome.

On someone that lived?

I had a guy in an accident that had his skin ripped from his face along with muscle tissue pulled away from nearly half his skull. He was talking and you could see his skull from his chin to above his eyeball on nearly half his face. Reminded me of skeletor

On someone that died?

In 1995 we had a guy jacked up on PCP who was cutting into his arm. When I arrived on scene as a cover officer, they were trying to talk to him from about 20' away, behind a door while he used a piece of broken mirror to cut his arm. I was watching from an outside window covering with my rifle. The negotiations went no where and he (shirtless) cut into his stomach, began pulling out his intestines and chewed on them. He kept saying, "they are inside". He died...

When I worked for the DOC we had a guy cut his scotum open. He was gonna cut off his testicle but apparently the cord is nothing but nerves and he couldnt do it. It took him 3 days.
And a DOA that had been there so long he had turned black.

The two I remember the most was a 15y/o female that was shot in the head from about 4inches with a 12ga. It was a gang thing and was about three blocks from our station house. I remember to this day seeing the bottom half of her skull just like a bowl, all the brain and spinal cord was gone clean out of it...
The second was a guy that got caught in the wheel cog gear thingy under a huge turning pan at a factory, it kind of pulverized his legs and pealed all the flesh off the bone. Those were two of the three calls that I'll never forget.

A lady slid a Toyota MR 2 under an 18 wheeler. We ran up so see if she was ok and her head was on the back deck of the car.

In 1996 there was serious flooding in South GA. I was in the State Defense Force at the time and the Governor activated us to go help the locals. We ended having to recover bodies that the flood had dug up from several cemetaries. Spent three days bagging corspes and stacking them like deadwood.
