Second Console Question

Our dispatch center uses Orbacom console radios and Pintrak CAD's, if that makes a difference.

Occasionally when you hear them over the radio, you hear an unusual beeping sound, that can best be described like that of a video game, it sounds sort of like "blo-bloop". Does anyone know what that is, I'm assuming it is something with CAD because the older Orbacom's at least as far as I know, don't make a sound when you switch channels.

Is it being heard in the background during a voice transmission, or is it actually going over the air as part of the transmission (as in a PTT ID)?

Definatley heard in the background.

And no, its not any form of unauthorized/unofficial equipment either, it is definatley part of the workstation, I am just not sure what it is.

Did the vendor have any idea what it may be?

No, I haven't had an opportunity to talk to the vendor. If I see one of them around next time I go for a ride-a-long or meeting, I'll ask though.

I've heard all sorts of things in the background, all from authorized equipment. For example, MOSCAD alerting system failure alerts, telephones, Windows operating system noises, etc. *shrugs* Can't be any more help, I guess, other than to say, it could be many things. Sorry.
