My dispatcher rant...
OK last week I see this female subject that I knew to have a warrant. I knew this because at shift change the outgoing Sgt told me that she had a warrant.
I find her in the parking lot of a convenience store. I double check with dispatch just to make sure. Well the dispatch had no idea what or who I was talking about. I keep giving her name and even SS#. They keep coming back with negative 29's. So I tell her that I didn't know what was going on but I wasn't holding her any longer. She gets in a van and starts to leave. Another dispatcher comes over the air and says they found the warrant.
I run after the van and stop it. I get her out and arrest her. What happened was the dispatcher didn't get up <out of her chair>to check the warrant drawer. She relied on the computer to tell her about the warrant. The paper wasn't entered into the system yet and wasn't on the computer.
Now todays incident...Dispatcher calls in a BOL for the city units. All she says was a vehicle that was weaving and possibly drunk heading into the city. Says I'll advise further....then nothing.
I go to the area she was talking about and sure enough I see this vehicle swerving and then see a vehicle spin out trying to avoid the vehicle. I go to the spun out vehicle to see if they are OK. She's fine and didn't hit anything. I get on the radio and advise the direction and make/color. Dispatch came back with "what BOL?" Uhh the BOL you half way gave us!!!!!
Also about a month ago I was out with a guy that I thought was barred from an apartment complex. Dispatch advised that he wasn't on the bar list. I tell him have a nice day....another disp. comes back and says yes he is on the list. I think the guy had a stash on his.
