The call was received by dispatch while I was in training.. Luckily, one of the more experienced dispatchers took that call, and not one of us newbies. Scary stuff. Unfortunately, the one you heard was probably different than the one we received..

Had a good one last weekend while the Livestock show was going on here:
Alarm company calls with a Silent Motion Alarm at the Texas Forest Service Office. Showing motion in several areas.
The officers arrive onscene and found a goat that was awol from the fair.
He had eaten almost all of the tree seedlings they had in the office along with some paperwork. LOL
He was secured in the backseat of the patrol car and given a ride to the animal shelter.

I wanted a picture of the goat locked up in the patrol car.

    Let's see....

Once, a guy called because his mattress delivery was late.

The best one yet was...About 1-2 in the morning, a lady calls 911 (keep in mind the language barrier, as she was Asian):

    Operator: Police, fire or ambulance?
    Female: Hewwo, powice?
O: You need the police ma'am?
F: I want powice. You powice?
O: Ma'am, what is your emergency?
    F: You powice? Hewwo?

Needless to say, it didn't get much better over 20 minutes of questioning. This went on until a member got to her door. She was pretty skunked out of her tree. She called at least 4 or 5 times that morning, from both her cell and her home phone, as she staggered from her house to a friend's. We never did find out what she wanted.

She found her "powice" though, and she had a nice warm cell to curl up in by shift's end. 'Course, that didn't stop the members from calling in on the non-emergency line, wanting "powice" for the next couple nights. :D

A female called in frantically that she and her friend had been shot and her friend was possibly dead. As soon as the ambulance operator was on the line, the female was extremely calm and stated she was hit a few times, wasn't really sure but she thinks she was shot in the buttocks.

Turns out she and her friend were the target of a driveby, the friend did die on scene and the caller survived. The caller was released from the hospital with home healthcare nurses to follow up and treat her wounds. She spent all this free time at home calling her friends and bragging about how she didn't die and they didn't get her. The home healthcare nurses feared for their life so they called to let us know to have an officer nearby since they were going to treat the female.

The female ended up dying from one of the bullet wounds becoming infected because she ran off the home healthcare nurses and wasn't getting treated properly. Guess they did get her after all.

I always liked telling people that asked if I was a police officer: "No, but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night."

One amusing call I always remembered was an older gentelman I worked with talking to a soon to be father. He asked him to check if the baby was crowning and the man yelled back something along the lines of "I ain't going to check, that's what got me into trouble in the first place!"

    Good times...
"You're abrasive, an idiot, a liar, a liberal and fool. I'd call that fairly accurate. Wait a minute. I think I could have just called you a Liberal and that would have included all the others ..." ro56 @ realpolice, 2006.

I once did a "Sit-A-Long" with our dispatch center for a Cadet Academy assignment. We were quite entertained by the one that went like this:

Dispatcher(D)- 911, what is your emergency?

Caller(C)- My car has been stolen!

After the typical "give me your location" "description of vehicle" and such, she proceeded to tell him officers were on the way.

D- All right sir, please just sit tight, we have officers on the way.

Another dispatcher also listening in notified us that she had just dispatched to a call of a car matching the 'stolen vehicle' description that had gone through the front wall of a store a slight ways down the hill.

The vehicle owner was quite embarassed when he was told where he could go find his vehicle.

    Use your parking brakes...
"Get down or I'll put you down!!!"
