Any News on NYS DOC Test taken April 4, 2009

Having trouble locating the test results online... anyone else take the test April 4th and know when the results will be up?

One of the Superintendants upstate said many higher ranking Officers are retiring this year and more officers will be moving up the ranks so they should be hiring a lot more trainees soon.

Anyone have any word on this?

For those of you that took the Exam on April 4, 2009, I just want to inform you that they are sending exams results. I received mine on Friday July 31, 2209.

25-169 - Correction Officer Trainee Spanish Language - Rank #4 - Score _ 90%

25-168 - Correction Officer Trainee (English Language) - Rank #163 Score 90%

What I would like to know form those already employed by NYS DOCS or have useful information is: What are the next steps? What exactly does the physical agility test consist of? Is it true that one has to go away tot he academy and that its in Albany? How long is the training at the academy? What happens once yore in the academy? Just to make it easier, what is the complete process once one receives their score.

My academy class starts November 16th.

I took the test a couple of years ago. It's been a long time.

After the written test, comes the agility test which consists of ear exams, urine analysis, stepping on and off a 1 foot step for 3 minutes. Then going up and down a flight of stairs. Then you jump over a hurdle. then you drag a 160 pound dummy 30 ft via a blanket around their arms/shoulders, then you gotta have control of a 120 pound dummy hanging by a noose for 10 seconds. Then you gotta load, fire, unload a 4" revolver. then you gotta close, lock, unlock, open a cell door.

after that, you meet with your background investigator.

later on, you take the psychological test.

then you meet a psychological interviewer.

if you listed for the spanish you then take the spanish proficiency exam.

about two years have past between everything then you get the CALL!
