Current Army guy here..wants to do corrections. needs help w/ NYS Troopers/Correction
Hi all! I'm currently in the Army, but within the next few months will be medically separated. My ULTIMATE goal is to be a NYS Troopers, but as a short term goal I want to do corrections.
Truth be told, this process seems so long I may have to pick up a job working for my dad immediately out, and will do that until hired on to troopers or corrections.
1. Is there any way I can directly transfer from the Army to either of those?
2. Do I have a better chance of being hired on to either of those?
3. How hard is it to transfer from corrections to troopers?
Any help is appreciated, thank you
Matt
EDIT: Also, I dont quite have my degree yet. I have classes and credits, but not a full degree (if this matters)

There is no way to transfer from the Army to Corrections or Trooper. You must take the civil service tests for both jobs.Lets say you get hired by NYS correction and want to go to NYS troopers you have to take the Trooper test and go through their academy. Two separate jobs two separate tests.

Yes I've done a bit more research and I think I'm going to try working a local NY cop job, and then doing all the requirements to get into troopers.
