A few Questions? Hope someone can help me!

Hello everyone, I am new here as of today and I have a few questions, hope thats alright. I am currently enrolled in school to be a correctional officer and I need some answers to a few questions.

In Michigan the most important and expensive item in the system is the cost of Corrections Officers. Michigan has a system, which requires 15 hours of college credit before appointment and additional training after being hired. Is that adequate? Is more college and more training necessary? Is the college training beneficial? How does Michigan rank in terms of quality? What are other states doing?

Any help would be appreciated. I have to do this report on Michigan which is where I live and 3 other states. I have been googling to find information and that is when I came across this website. Not finding too much information. But I do have to ask a Correctional Officer these questions that work near and around me. Please help. Thanks

    Adequate for what? (rhetorical)

Is more college and more training necessary?

IMO, you don't need a college education to be a corrections officer. A college education/experience would be nice for personal growth. All else being equal, it's better to have more training than not enough.

    Is the college training beneficial?

See above. Depends on what you take and what you intend to do with it.

How does Michigan rank in terms of quality?

Air quality? Automobile manufacturing quality? Quality of life? (rhetorical)

    What are other states doing?

Try typing in Google - "[insert state here] department of corrections". e.g. "california department of corrections" and then research the websites that show up.
