    Maryland Corrections

Anyone out there know anything about Maryland Corrections or can give some insights into the dept? I know that's a bit vague but Today i got a letter from DOC informing me of my "best Qualified" status and a application. I've just (last week) took the test for Baltimore PD and i'm awaiting the results from that. So it looks as if i'm at a crossroads. Both jobs are great in terms of career (and advancement). Both take people over the age of 35 (i'm 41 now) and i'm currently working on my degree in Psyc.

As i've posted in other threads (SEE: My Bio, Your Thoughts under Backgroung Checks/Hiring Practices), i do have a arrest from 1990 for Petty Larceny in Albany NY as well as 2 PBJ for a suspended liensce and expired tags.....all of which have been resolved....i'm clean and have been so for over 8yrs (clean meaning no other infractions...i don't do the drug thing...at all). Both have pretty decent starting salaries, pensions, bennies, and perks.

    any insights are welcome.

    thanks in advanced.

I don't know too much about Maryland DOC, other than they have been in the news a lot lately. Check out today's Sun, I think it says that there are 20 some odd officers that have been fired or are on leave pending investigation.
I won't argue that it was a no-holds-barred adrenaline fuelled thrill-ride, but there's no way that you could perpetrate that amount of carnage and mayhem and not incur a considerable amount of paperwork. - Sergeant Nick Angel, Sandford Police Service
