Question Need help understanding federal & state level of comparisons

Good Evening! (My first year leading to Bachelor degree) This is the first time throughout my assignments that I came to a hault, I consequently find myself stuck because I do not know how to answer the two questions. I have done quite well so far till these questions, I am concerned about. I have background law enforcement, social work, and security experience but in different country; which does not apply to the U.S. So, naturally, this is a on-going learning experience for me in the U.S justice system.

    Can someone help me???

I am boggled in these two questions for my assignment.

    1. What do police, courts, correctional, probation, and parole agencies share at the federal level?

    2. What do police, courts, correctional, probation, and parole agencies share at the state level?

    3. What are the similarities and differences between probation and parole agencies at various levels?

You know, it would probably be much more impressive to your professor if you called up a local court in your area and went to see these people in person to get your answers, vice posting them on a message board for anonymous people to respond to. Definitely shows more initiative, and you can get a lot more good info about a career field by talking to people doing the job than you can on wikipedia or a google search.

    Thank you

I appreciate your advice, and I will take it upon consideration. I was thinking of asking somebody in the court or police district but I was not too sure if it would be okay. I do not want a crazy and mindless impression of myself asking.

    Thank you, it does help.

I think your instructor might need to sharpen up the focus a bit. But just as a thought maybe it would be useful if you took each of those agencies at each level (federal and state) and wrote about their purposes and perhaps how they go about their work. You may find some similarities there and it may help you understand how the different agencies work as components of the justice system at state and federal level. I hope that helps a bit.

Federal agencies/courts deal with federal law violations, state agencies/courts deal with state and local law violations. That's basically it. Those questions are unbelievably broad.
