Kaplan is regionally accredited, so it's a solid degree, but if I were willing to pay Kaplan's prices, I'd invest the same ammount of money in a degree from Penn State.
They've been regionally accredited since the 19th century, and started their distance education program in 1892. How many other institutions of higher education can say that? Needless to say, these guys have been doing their thing well before the online, for profit education boom of the late 20th century.
All regionally eccredited education is a worthwile investment. This is only my personal opinion. ROS used to work in the CJ department of an online college. I'm sure he'll be on shortly to give his opinion. Best of luck to you!
Penn State has a terrific international reputation for distance learning, especially in research, I think it's tied up with AT&T in the research area mainly using satellite tv. Another one is U Wisconsin at Madison, again, very highly regarded internationally for its distance learning programme. There are quite a few others but I will get very boring very quickly if I go on about them.
