    Who uses Rate My Professor?

Not sure how popular it is in other parts of the country but around here in Michigan its a pretty big thing for when its time to pick classes.

I don't rely on it, but it does help me decide if I want to take that teacher or not.

Just wondering who all uses it?

If you don't, take the time and look into it.

I used it in the past. I didn't really put that much weight into though...it's not like you had a bunch of options choosing advanced physics classes though either.

i've used it, but learned not to rely on it 100%. Some teachers that I expected to be impossible ended up being easy, and others that were suppose to be easy ended up being impossible. Ratings should be taken with a grain of salt.

I looked to see if I was listed, but nope. Maybe this is a source used more by students at traditional on-ground institutions, rather than online.

I've used it. I even took the time out to give props to a lot of my professors and I verbally blistered the *** of a teacher who took pride in making Spanish III the hardest class that there ever was...

I live by ratemyprofessor. I also try to sit in to a lecture of a professor I plan on taking before I register. Then there's the old standby, register for two classes more than you plan on actually taking. After the first week, you can drop your two least favorite classes and take em later. ;)

I love RMP (but I get good reviews :-)

I do think it's used more in face-to-face courses, but still many of the profs there aren't aware of it. My suggestion would be to bring it up in conversation to the prof . . . either directly or indirectly. Profs need feedback, too (especially feedback that is not filtered through the administration).

Any CJ prof worth half what they are paid would pay attention to any good or bad comments made . . . whether they admit it or not.

It's hit and miss for me. Sometimes it's dead on but there is always some idiot who never showed up to class, failed, and gave the Prof. a bad review.

One of my CJ Profs left his office open, after waiting far too long for a graded paper I located my 15 page plastice covered paper and slipped a small part of a weathererd leaf stuck to my boot under my folder, I did the same for three other folders for two deputies awaiting grades. We had to pass by his office everyday, the stack of papers sitting on top of a filing cabinet next to a secction of glass could be sen from the hall, so we made it a point of glancing in at my markers, on my way to class. The stack of papers never moved, nothing was distrubed. Yet everybody in the class either received a C- or C+. The stack of papers were never moved. Word got around. How do you think we graded that Prof?

It's a good site for students. Get an idea of the curriculum and testing methods used before taking a course by sitting in on a class as stated above unless you have no preference

I used it every chance I got. If there are only two or three reviews, it isn't that helpful and the reviews can be misleading. However, it's still better than knowing nothing about a profesor. For the most part, I found the reviews to be accurate. If eight out of ten people dislike a certain professor, chances are that you won't like that person either.

The main reason I relied on the site was to make sure I wouldn't be miserable in a class for the next four or five months.

I use it quite a bit. I go to Ohio State, and since it's the biggest University in the nation it's not very common to know your professors all that well, especially because we're still doing quarters rather than semesters. I dont live and die by rate my professors, but if i have 2 classes I'm equally interested in then my deciding factor can be what people have to say on rate my professors.

    Who uses Rate My Professor?
I've never used 'Rate My Professor', but I've been known to visit 'Rate My Rack' :D

(NO, it's NOT work-friendly or child-friendly, so you'll have to put the words together and add a .com at the end yourself)

I take it you are an online prof. I attend Kaplan online. Any chance you are a prof. there?
