Basic Criminal Justice course for nonmajor?

I'm an Electrical Engineer major but plan on applying to be a police officer once I graduate, so I want to take at least one or two criminal justice courses. I was wondering what are some basic early level CJ courses that I might want to take to get acquainted with the subject matter.

You'll have to check and see what intro level CJ classes your university offers. You may also want to look into Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure classes.

At the school I work for, all but one of our offerings in the above courses require a prerequisite CJ class first. The only CJ classes we offer that do not require a prerequisite course are Intro to CJ, Criminology and Criminal Law. All three of these would be good intro-level courses for someone interested in LE to take to compliment a major in another field.

    courses for cj degree

Topics: Police and the community, Administration of Justice, Federal rules of Evidence, court procedure, Latest Laws on Search and Seizure, Victimology, Constitutional Law, The Blue Wall. Sometimes the courses depend on the political slant of the collage or area you live in. Liberal collages insist on lots of humanistic garbage to slow down which will slow down your reaction time, as you review all the rules of engagement.

Wow. You resurrected a nine month old thread. Not a record by far, but not bad for only four posts...

yeah this was a long time ago lol

I ended up taking "Law Enforcement in Society" taught by a Lt. in my County's Sheriff's department, who also had his law degree (was an assistant D.A. before he decided hed rather be a LEO). Great class

Considering NY State police after I graduate with my BS in EE
