Criminal Justice Degrees are old news.....

If you ask around it's ALL about business degrees and administration degrees now.

    They want management skills

It's the new age, even though it actually doesnt really matter what your degree is in, you just need to satisfy the GED or the 2 yr degree or the 4 year degree. You could get a degree in finger painting for all they care

Criminal Justice degrees are old news, unfortunately
even though I have one and I think it's beneficial

Dont just post it, explain it.

Most LE Agencies want Common Sense Smarts over Book Smarts.

Most Federal Agencies, and some Touchy Feely Agencies want Book Smarts.

One can only be so Open Minded before all that mind **** spills out, stains and ruins everything.

oh well, when the police and fire commission disqualifies people for not having their shirtline military straight in the interview or if they dont like their cologne or if they have too much stuff in their pants pockets (all real examples of what they DQ over) the college degree is just a pass/fail "does he have a degree or not" just like the POWER test for agility is pass/fail

Is there a point to this thread? It might be useful if this information wasn't already previously made available for everyone?

No need to repeat what's already said and made available to everyone in an easy-to-access sticky thread: http://forums.realpolice.net/showthread.php?t=44734

Are you just trying to get your post count up, or did you not take the time to see what information was already available?

I'm pretty sure they want people that will follow orders no matter what.

    100% sure of that actually.

If it's been said once here, it's been said a million times. Departments DO NOT CARE what a degree is in, so long as it is from an accredited university. Ceartain Federal agencies (i.e. the FBI) prefer some degrees over others, but I have never seen a local agency that has a preference.

Wow I am TOTALLY impressed. You, someone who isn't even a commissioned law enforcement officer knows exactly what the administrators of the 18,000 LE agencies in the US are looking for!! You must be a pretty smart guy. How do you do it? Actually an even better question.....why are you not the Attorney General??? I'm sure it's only a matter of time before you are appointed to that position considering your vast law enforcement experience and knowledge of the subject.

You know, I have to agree with ROS here. This subject has been talked about in depth numerous amounts of times on here. Please do a search. For now I am putting this one down.
