What part of California are you in?
In N. California, check out San Jose State or Sacramento State. I'm still deciding which one I'm going to apply to once I get my Associate's at the CC I'm going to now.
A degree that has remedial English to start. I'm sorry, this isn't a personal insult toward you but everyday, it seems, there is someone here asking questions like these and they can barely type an understandable sentence. If you're just typing like this because it's the internet then stop. Get into the good habit of proper grammar, now. The President of the U.S. isn't going to like your reports containing ur or i if you do make it into the secret service.
"...Our natural, inalienable rights are now considered to be a dispensation of government, and freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping from our grasp as it is at this moment.” Ronald Reagan
"Those who beat their weapons into plows will be plowing for those who don't."
yea sorry about that, that was after i was done with Hwk and just didn't care any more
but would a crim. justice degree be a good start for gov't jobs? (CIA Secret service)
and also if i spent some time in the SS, would my chances of becoming cop be alot better? i guess what im asking is if i am in the SS and go to being a cop would i start higher in the chain?
and yes im in Nor Cal, SJ and Sac are good ones then?

Sometimes there's Justice...
and sometimes, there's Just Us

In memory of DCLaw- EOW@RealPolice 02-20-2007.
We won't rest 'till we find the mutt.
I'm in Criminal Justice because:
1) It helps me in the job I'm in now. The police academy and FTO will teach you how to be a cop. The CJ helps me in security because we don't get much training. If you can even call what we get training.
2) It's the only subject I'm interested in. I wouldn't be motivated enough to finish school if I were studying biology or math or business. Maybe econ, though....
But back to your question. You have to learn to walk before you can run. And SS seems like a pretty brisk sprint.
As far as the CIA goes, I haven't researched them at all. But as a previous poster said, in another thread, CIA isn't a Law Enforcement Agency. Check out this link for more information on the CIA:

As far as the colleges go, I love it here in San Jose. Both Sac State and SJSU have Criminal Justice graduate programs if you're interested in that.
Here's the link for both:

And PS.
Before you get eaten alive by some of the grammar nazi's here (myself included. I'm giving you a break because you're new to the forum) you need to start writing your posts like you're writing a paper. Proper punctuation and spelling are a must on here. This isn't myspace or AIM or text messages. It is, for the most part, a forum of adults. Most of them are in the LE field. We don't know you. You may be very intelligent. However, using text messaging slang and improper punctuation along with not capitalising when needed makes you seem young, immature, and disrespectful.
But welcome to RP. The search button is your friend for anything you could possibly ask. And remember to grow some tough skin if you start getting razzed. Membership on this forum is worth it.;)
