Credit transfers, in need of suggestions

Recently i've begun taking criminal justice classes with Central Texas College who only offers an AAS in Criminal Justice.

With work experience and prior credits (I hold an existing Associates and a Bachelors) I can acheive the degree in 24 credit hours. I'm also looking at transferring (if at all possible) to a bachelors or masters program.

Does anyone know of any online schools who are regionally accredited that would accept CTC's credits and possibly military experience toward bachelors or masters degrees? Reccomendations?

    Thanks!

I went to Roger Williams University. They accept life credits, CLEP, DSST, and have a decent transfer policy. Life credits were based on my resume, so if you go this route make sure yours is written well. When I was still military they offered a military discount bringing the tuition down to the amount TA provides. When I became a civilian I told them, but the didn't raise the tuition amount.

They do offer a BS and a Masters in CJ. I don't know if the Masters program is online yet. When I applied I had only my AAS from the Community College of the Air Force and security police experience. After review of all my stuff they required 10 classes, the minimum to receive a degree from them, with three of them being electives.

They are ranked 10 in Northern Comprehensive colleges on US News and World Reports annual listing. That really isn't saying much, there were only 34 on the list.

Some of the online schools and highly advertised tech schools have very limited credit transfer allowances. Not that they are bad, they don't release credits to other schools to keep their students in their tuition bank. It pays to check credit transfer policies before making a biinding agreement with a school.

For Navy types, check out Columbia College. They have campuses on Navy bases. Believe their home campus is in Missouri.

Check out Kaplan University (online) I have been with them for a while. They offer AAS, BS, and MS in Criminal Justice. They are also military and LEO friendly. But the tuition can be a bit steep.

    Columbia College of Missouri.

This is where I attend, they are regionally accredited. They also have a brick and mortar campus that has been around since the 1800's. I am currently getting a B.A. in Criminal Justice totally online. Their tuition seems to be good as well. They have sattelite campuses all over, especially near military bases.

I believe they accept most credits from other regionally accredited colleges.

edit: Most of the people in my online classes are Navy, some Marines and some Army, but mostly Navy.

I would say try Park University. They are in many bases and give lots of credit for military experience. I got my bachelors with them in just 2 years and I never went to college before that. Also they are not that expensive one class cost about $450 dollars

I just got my SMART transcript evaluated at Sacramento State University. I know, it isn't exactly an online college, but for what it's worth, they accepted ALL of the credits. They can only be used for the "life experience" area of our general ed req's and for elective credits that aren't required to come from a particular subject field.

Any other big colleges or Universities near you? I would check with them first. Texas A&M gave me credit through their BAAS program. However I don't think it's offered at all campuses.

If you interested in Kaplan try giving ROS a PM he teaches for them.

Right now i'm deployed and CTC is offering the face to face classes here. That is the only reason I started on their AAS program.

I'm going to have to figure out whether or not any of these online colleges will accept CTC's credits toward a bachelors or masters.

I'd probably go to the base education office. They have a large book with a listing of the colleges they accept and will pay TA for. That's how I found out about Roger Williams. I told the education NCO what I had and what I could do and he gave me three choices that fit my criteria exactly. I had never heard of any of the colleges, but come to find out they all were well respected in their areas.

My cousin even considered the college I went to, but decided against it because there were too many shiny new expensive cars in the student parking.
