best colleges for criminal Jusice in NY

hey guys, just wanting a second opinion on a college for CJ in NY. I know theres alot out there but what really sets them apart from eachother. I was looking at the fancy colleges like CW post and Adelphi and they have great programs....but they are wayyy too expensive (20-22k/yr). What im trying to say here is if i went to John Jay in the city for alot less (4k/yr) ...is there any difference in the outcome (a job) it would make with employers such as the FBI, NYPD, State and County Police?

where did some of the LE officers out there go? Recommendations?

Don't post the same questions multiple times. It is bad ettiquote.

Also, there is no reason for it to be in Ask-a-Cop, as one does not need to be a cop to make educated responses to the question.

FWIW, John Jay seems just fine. I know that the USMS used to pull people from there for the co-op program.

...don't ask me, I don't know much about the program except to say that it is generally regarded with distaste by DUSMs who were not recruited by it (most of the Service).

Check out the Criminal Justice Programs area of the forum. Maybe that is where this thread could go?

by far SUNY ALBANY.....number 2 in the nation for CJ. Better then John Jay. But if you want like forensics and stuff, stick with john jay. I went to albany and did CJ. Need atleast a 3.4 to even be considered. Its hellping me out tremendously with the NYPD

I went to Nassau Community College for CJ and got my associates degree. I thought it was a very good program, even compared to St Johns, where I am going for my bachellors. If cost is an issue, keep NCC in mind(3400$ when I went). Many of the teachers are exNYPD cops and bosses. I would also consider John Jay. I have heard alot of good things about the school, especially the graduate program.

I go to John Jay currently, the CJ program is excellent from I see of it so far. Lots of current/retired LEOs and the tuition is reasonable if you are a NY resident especially since its part of the CUNY system. My main complaint about it- it really isn't in the most convienient part of the city being all the way up on 59th and 10th.
