I wanted to let everyone know that I just found out from Portland State University that I have been accepted into their Online Program for a B.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice. I will be entering as a Junior and will start on June 26th!!!! :D

Good for you. Here's some tips to keep in mind while pursuing your degree online:

1. Online is an "anytime, anywhere" education format, but it still has requirements that must be met. These include weekly assignments with deadlines.

2. Some online programs substitute the classroom experience with online discussion boards and/or chat rooms. Be sure you remain active and participate, as this is often a part of your overall grade.

3. Being a successful online student takes initiative on YOUR part. You don't have the luxury of having an instructor in a classroom looking over your shoulder and making sure you do your work. The responsibility is your's to ensure that you complete everything required.

4. Pay close attention to the course syllabus. This is a general rule for college in general, but this will be your guide to successfully completing the course.

The biggest problem with online classes that I have found is procrastination, don't do it. You HAVE to be on top of the work. Like ROS said, just keep up with the requirements and everything will be ok.

Congrats & good luck on your path to education.

I am graduating this year with mine and it has been so much fun. I have learned alot. Online courses are harder than classroom courses but they are so much easier for tough schedules. I work 2 jobs, go to school, work out and spend time with my wife & kids. This is why online works so well!
