Rate My Professors

I think it's a good idea, but it gets misused a lot by kids just trying to take easy classes. I like to use it to find the professors that keep their students interested, instead of standing at podium reading a powerpoint. What do you guys think?

Most of my CJ professors are on there. Too bad I don't have a choice of teachers anymore or that might be helpful.

I use that site a lot...espically transfering to a new school, I wanted to see what the teachers are like there and who would be fun yet hands on deal.

Although, like the previous poster - often times I have no choice of professors... and sometimes it gets ugly!

There is a website setup specifically for my university that is much like this. It's OK but there are a lot of people posting bad reviews just because they received a poor grade.

The only overall ratings I really pay attention to are especially horrible ones because in my experience they are probably accurate.

From a faculty standpoint, I actually like that website and I encourage my students to leave uncensored feedback. That way I can tell exactly how they feel about my classes.

I am guilty of using it to see what students say about other faculty members......particularly faculty members that I do not care for.

The school I work for is listed, but not the online department. Strange. I guess I'll never know what a group of anonymous students think about me... oh wait, we have end-of-term Instructor Evaluation forms. Nevermind.

My school is there too but I am not listed. Apparently adjunct instructors are not that important! I'll just go with the Eval Forms since those have been pretty good to me.

There is a way to add new professors to the list. By not being there is just means nobody has added them to the list yet.

If this is in response to my post, I did see that. I meant not important enough to the students. I sure as heck am not going to add myself! ;)

You actually get to see yours? We are supposed to get ours after grades are posted. Last semester I got the ones that were done in the Fall of 2004! Apparently we run about a year behind. That is why I like the website. The feedback is a little more up to date.

I have, however, never posted something as a "student" under a friend of mine from Grad School's name in which I said something about her "firm grasp" of the subject matter..........:D

Though I also hate to read the negative readings here is one rating that is pretty close.

he is very arrogant with an ego the size of his head. he sucks as a teacher, it's either his way or the highway. Claims to be very helpful, but when you ask him a question or go to his office, you leave with more question than answers.

Then here is another one about a different teacher, which is a great teacher.

As a former University of New Haven, CT student I think these (end of term evaluations) are somewhat inaccurate. Some may be inclined to think the professors see them prior to grades, and even though they are anonymous, therefore may be inaccurate evaluations.

I, however, liked to look up the profs on the website and think the comments there are pretty accurate. I think this website may be a good way to gauge future teachers and be able to pick what classes and profs you may be looking for.

Too bad the online classes aren't listed though ROS because it seems online education is a growing trend.

A professor was just talking about that yesterday. He wouldn't see them until 2 quarters later. This quarter they started sending them out electronicly through a system called blackboard. This way, he gets to see them 2 weeks after grades are posted.
