Ditto what ROS said. I teach both History and Criminal Justice. I'd also be happy to help with any questions or concerns, though I was actually a firefighter before turning into a professor. That is a long story for another time. Let me just say that getting graduate degrees was a much bigger pain in the a$$ than the fire academy.

So, maybe someone can help.... So currently I am attending college in Vermont, orginally from NYC. My career goal is to going LE with none other then the NYPD. The NYPD require 60 credits or military training. I am currently in a BS in Animal Science program. I was wondering, whether having a CJ major gives you a leg up. Also what is the possibility of getting into a MS in CJ with an undergrad unrelated degree? Thanks alot.

I guess you're chances would be pretty good, as my BS is in Psychology, and my MS in CJ. I did have to take about 5 or so prerequisite undergrad CJ courses (in addition to the other grad school entry requirements), but it can be done if you're willing to do the extra work required.

I agree, we should write a sticky for the infamous "Should I major in CJ to be a cop?" question too.
