Only in where it can be carried (Aka- off limits locations) is carried...HR218 specifically states such in the begining.

You don't have to go to the Connecticut State Police. You can go to the police department where you live and get the permit from them. There's a retired guy in western Connecticut who is POST certified and who runs retirees through the requirements all the time. I think he charges either $25 or $50. If anyone wants his name please PM me.
Can you have more than one LEOSA qual card? I can see saying one gun per card......thus you pay for each card/qual. But saying a guy can only have one card with one gun is very restrictive!

I'm not even restricted to the gun I qualified with. Although I qualified with a Taurus .45 semi, I can carry any semi-auto, same because of the revolver qualification. I qualified with a Colt Detective Special, but I can carry a S&W Model 19 on that card. I had to pay 25 bucks that went to the gun club that sponsored the certifier (a retired cop certified by the state).

I like your card Retdetsgt. It looks like Oregon has things together and accomodating folks. I can't belive the issues agencies/states have made with LEOSA. You would think they would want the extra "help" without any liability.

Yeah, they are pretty reasonable. There's a long list of agencies here willing to qualified retirees. (Sadly, my old department isn't one of them and they put more retirees on the street than anyone in the state) The fee is in the neighborhood of 25 bucks for each one. I go to this guy because he's a friend I used to work with and is nearby.

I really don't need it because I rarely go out of state, but it's nice to have in case I get into a mess and have to use my gun. Oregon is also friendly to other out of state retirees. If you are honorably retired from anywhere, you can carry in Oregon w/o a problem. It's always been that way.

I don't recall seeing anything about specific weapons. I was under the impression that you have to qualify with a handgun and then you get the card. As far as I know, there is no restriction on what type of handgun you are allowed to carry.

Of course, that doesn't mean that the CSP doesn't issue a card for each handgun you want to qualify with. It wouldn't surprise me if they were told to do that.

Me too! LEOSA law states you can carry the same "type" whihc teh majority of states have designated as revolver and/or semi-auto. Additionally many places have different courses of fire for a revolver vs. semi-auto. Thus I can see having to qual on a revolver on course A and a semi on course B, and then you can carry any revolver and any semi.

I am not sure if they allow more than card or not.

RDS gets full-auto. Semi-auto would be a violation. Beware of the man with a wheel gun and M-60.
