I'm new to the forums. I recently applied for a position within my local Sheriff's department for Sheriff Deputy-Recruit. I took a county-approved exam (similar to P.O.S.T. however only valid in the county of Contra Costa). I also scored a 55 on my P.O.S.T. last year (but I believe the scores are old o that now). So, I scored high enough on my T-Score to be accepted into the academy - but not high enough to be payed through or hired by the sheriff's department.
The academy starts next march (2010). I will be paying my own way through with no promise of a job and no promise of even a career after wards.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Basic Academy is one of the top in California. However I am wondering now - if it is even worth doing... because the economy is so bad that there might be no job waiting for me if and when I graduate in October 2010.
Advice?
Input?
Ideas?
And if you know of any other PD's or other counties that may be hiring at all i northern California that would be great as well!
Thanks for all the help - I really do appreciate the input.
