    Border Patrol Agent question?

I'm still deciding what I want to be a Police Officer or Border Patrol Agent, but do the Border Patrol Agents have any Investigative work or is it all patrolling, except for Bortac, Borstar which arn't investigative units.

Border Patrol does have smuggling investigation units, but the agency's investigative variety isn't going to be akin to a city/county police department. If investigations is your end goal, you could go either way, as there's plenty of former Border Patrol Agents who are Special Agents/Criminal Investigators with other federal LE agencies.

If you're truly interested in both, apply to both. The job market out there sucks right now, so why put all your eggs in one basket?

Border Patrol Agents don't investigate, per se. However they do have positions, which do play an investigative role , to include running sources, which are Intelligence agents. BIG is a federal criminal investigator and works with BP Intel agents quite often.

BIG has found them to be invaluable in many of BIG's cases.

This is kicking up a semi old thread but if your goal is to do investigations then USBP probably isn't the way to go. There are some BPA's who get to do investigation but they are all assigned to a task force and those spots are few and far between with lots of competion. BP Intell officers would be the closest thing to investigtions that most BPA's get to do.
    Wrong door, buddy
