A Surrey truck driver is being held in Washington after a truck was stopped on the U.S. side of the Pacific Highway border crossing and found to be carrying 192 pounds of cocaine.

A northbound 2005 commercial truck was intercepted by members of the Blaine Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team and Border Enforcement Security Task Force agents Oct. 10.

A narcotic-detecting dog named Mac searched the truck and trailer, and alerted authorities to the cocaine, which was separated into 76 bricks and concealed inside a secret compartment.

The drugs are estimated to be worth more than $3 million.

Sukhvinder Shoker was taken into custody and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The bust is the largest for Blaine authorities since July 7, when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a 32-year-old Calgary man at Peace Arch crossing for allegedly attempting to bring 238 pounds of cocaine into Canada.

"...what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? What do you have then? A sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero's path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed." LTC Dave Grossman
