    Work Schedule

Hey everybody, I just got offered a job in Newark NJ with CBP and I hear it's shift-work....will I be working a steady shift (ie, 2nd shift all the time) and will I have steady working days of the week, (like always working Tues -Sat, etc) or will these always be changing? Also, heard they have 24hr duties and such. How long do you have to work at a location before you can put in a transfer to another location?

Not sure on Newark but we work rotating shifts 8-4 / 4-12 / 12-8 some other odd shifts also. Might be 4 days 8-4 1 day off then 6 straight 4-12 then 2 days off. Something like that, your days off could be any day, when we work off of Mids you have a 4 day weekend so your hours are always changing, i like it actually, some don't. As far as 24 hr duty's ???? we don't work more than 16 straight unless you get involved in a case
Transfers.....most places it will be 3 years till that available, even then who knows when it might actually happen, just depends on where you want to go.
