Bank of America offers new Credit Card to Illegals

    Link to story here.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Bank of America Corp. has begun offering credit cards to customers without Social Security numbers, typically illegal immigrants, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

In recent years, banks across the country have been offering checking accounts and even mortgages to the nation's fast-growing ranks of undocumented immigrants, most of whom are Hispanic, the paper said, adding these immigrants generally have not been able to get major credit cards.

The new Bank of America card is open to people who lack both a Social Security number and a credit history, as long as they have held a checking account with the bank for three months without an overdraft, the Journal said.

Bank of America tested the program last year at five branches in Los Angeles, and last week expanded it to 51 branches in Los Angeles County, home to the largest concentration of illegal immigrants in the U.S., the Journal said.

The bank hopes to roll out the program nationally later this year, the paper said.

A Bank of America spokesman was not immediately available to comment.

Yeah. That's an idea that will resound with the American people...

Bank of America...what a bunch of asshats! They'll never get any of my business. I had my experience with those embiciles a few years ago, and I never forget the ones that piss me off!!!

    I am amazed!
Lacey just open a new bank account, don't overdraft for 3 months. Don't forget to tell them you have no credit history and no ss#.

Bank of America is the number one bank in south Florida for one reason: They allow anyone to sign up for an account on the internet without even going to the bank, and with no verification that the information you are giving them belongs to you.

Between illegal aliens and drug dealers, they have all the business they can handle.

This is nuts!!! They're setting themselves up for a big failure that's gonna increase our rates - you get a bank account, get the credit card, max it out, empty your bank account, and move on. Change your name, and start over. Unless it is a secured credit card - is that what it is?

And they've been offering MORTGAGES to illegals?!?!? WTF???

That's a huge slap in the face to the rest of us, and to those who come here legally. We all play by the rules, build our credit, and keep our credit clean so we can EARN credit cards and mortgage loans. We worry about late payments, ID theft, and anything else that could screw up our credit. But now illegals can get the same priveleges, without any of the same hassles or worry.

BOA just flipped us all the bird.

Bank of America has been giving me crappy service on my accounts. Guess it's time to move them elsewhere. It won't be Wells Fargo, they nickel and dimes you with hidden fees. Now they are smurfing and structuring money transactions.........

That is why I think it is usually best to stick with your department/city/county credit union if you are fortunate enough to have one. I am a member of the Monterey County Employee Credit Union. If they were to pull some crap like that there would be an assload of customers leaving and small local banks and credit unions can't afford that.

Yeah, I got stuck with them holding the mortgage on my home as of November. I'm not real impressed with them as yet. I logged onto their website to find out if I could pay my note online, since they hadn't sent my monthly statement. They said I could use their instant pay option for a measly $10 extra per session.
I said to Hell with 'em! They can wait for the check!

Thank god for Federal Credit Union, my father transfered my account from Bank of Un-America back when I was about 10 or so.

Bank of America was originally named Bank of Italy, so maybe they should change their name again to Bank of Mexico to reflect their business philosophies.

I am a BOA customer, and after confirming the validity of the post, I am in the process of transfering my business to a credit union. Unbelieveable...
