Thinking about Border Patrol

Im on the fence about what section of law enforcement Id like to pursue. Ive taken Spanish at a level 4 in college in case I decided to pursue the Border Patrol. My question is, I live in PA, would they even consider hiring me? If so, I dont have much of a resume, should I work in corrections or try to get hired as a local LEO first? Reason being I just graduated college and have only worked construction jobs. And also, the reason Im interested in the BP is that I have very strong feelings regarding the enforcement of our borders, if I told an investigator this would they think I held biased feelings or would they understand that I simply feel that the law should be upheld?

Will they consider hiring you? Yes. This of course presumes you have a clean record and can pass all requirements.

Are you willing to relocate, probably to the SW US? There is not much call for BP in PA, after all.

Man, that was a hell of a foresight, to take Spanish, in case you decided to pursue a career in the BP.

The U.S. Border Patrol is a Federal agency. Like other Federal agencies, their only requirement is you be a U.S. citizen. From what particular area you hail, is irrelevant to whether or not you will be hired.

Apply for an opportunity to take the test and qualify for the position. The worst they can say is, "No". Then from there you go and get yourself some "experience" and try, try again.

If that is how you feel, that is how you feel. As long as you are sincere and honest in your answers, that is all that you can do.

I am very interested in the academy. I do have Law Enforcement experience in the military, so I don't have any worrys about the academy itself. however.... What I would like to know is if my girlfriend can stay with me while at the academy... now I don't know if housing is on base or off base, but if it is off-base, will I get free housing? Can she stay with me? Even if there is on-base housing, is there a place that she can get near the academy?
5 months is a long time, so she really wants to know her side of the picture. Thanks

Are you referring to the BP academy??

If you want her to accompany you, then you'll be footing the bill for her stay out in town. There is no free housing, not even if you're married is there any free housing.

the only way for your girlfriend to accompany you is for you to either get a hotel room for her or rent a house/apartment.
