I just saw the first tv commerical in my area totally in spanish.

It just played and was for a local small time electronics place. It was on primetime tv on the comedy channel.


I should add, I know why it was done, to attract the many spanish speaking customers in my area, I was just sharing.

Also, they get pissy even when they don't speak English at all. They'll ask, "Speaky Spanee?" and are shocked when I say "No." :rolleyes:

It's quite annoying when I am in working with people who are hispanic, and they expect me to speak spanish. I have nothing against hispanic people, the people I have had experience with are all, top notch honest people.

But what irk's me is, they come to an english speaking country, they continue to speak spanish with their peers, and their english remains poor, and when they talk to an english speaker, they rag on them and tell them they should learn spanish.

Most people that do this to me, I'll get into a respectful debate with them. I turn it around, and say, if I go to Mexico, to live in Mexico, what language do I have to learn?

They respond: Spanish of course.

If I go to Germany, to live in Germany, what language do I have to learn?

Response: German

If I go to France, to live in France, what language do I have to learn?

Response: French

Then I say:

If I go to the United States, to live in the United States, what language do I have to learn:

Response: English.

And from there, they pretty much can't argue it out any other way. I can't just go to Mexico and expect everyone to speak english like me, just like they can't come to the United States and expect everyone to speak Spanish for them.

I have no problem with people coming over here, just as long as they are legal, and pay taxes just like me. And if they commit crimes, they can't just flee back to Mexico.

I totally agree with the above statement. Too bad there's not enough people who feel that way, and can see what is happening to our country because of all the "rights" that they think everyone should have.

In our local Wal-Mart the product and sale announcements are in english and spanish ... every fourth announcement is in spanish only .... Come to Roswell, New Mexico for a dose of .... what I have been told is .... the "NATIVE LANGUAGE" ...

I rarely get people who don't speak any english. Everyone I come in contact with at least attempts to speak English. And I'm not just talking about people who speak spanish. In my apartment complex alone I have people from Mexico, Germany, Nigeria, Iran, Israel, China, Philipines, Russia. They all speak (or try to speak) English every time I talk to any of them. Many of them have been here less than a year. It's easy, if you are going to live and work in the United States, you need to make every effort to speak ENGLISH! If for nothing else than to be able to survive in this country.
