Defending our borders against foreign enemies can't possibly cause a problem with Posse Comitatus. If they were riding with local LE and assisting with domestic violence arrests or something like that there would be a very clear problem.

I'd say preventing WMD's from getting into our country is a specific military purpose. We sure have the resources. We need to use them.

I was thinking the same thing.

Using US military forces to patrol our borders would definitely not fall under the Posse Comitatus Act.

God forbid the Mexican gov't and all the left-wingers hear about it. Just like building sections of fencing along the border upsets all these people because it'll make it harder for illegals of whatever country to get in.
Some will argue that the military isn't trained for that type of mission. Maybe so, maybe not. Either way, they can get the training for just that type of mission, just like riot control for Haiti, counter-insurgency ops, etc.
    Just my thoughts.

From defending the perimeter of an air base in Afghanistan to defending our own country's perimeter.....it won't be that hard for SP/MP's. LP/OP's (listening post/observation post) spread across the border with fire teams assigned to sectors. It would definitely take a lot of troops though. I would be willing to bet morale would be alot better in defending our own borders than somebody else's country. Also, Use of Force would replace Rules of Engagement.
