I guess this is another prime example why our border guards need to be armed. I believe it is the plan of the new government we elected yesterday to arm the guards.
From the Conservative party's platform:
"Provide our border officers with sidearms and the training required for their use, and ensure, for the safety of these officers, that there are no "work alone" posts.

I'm digging my way to something better
Job well done preventing these people from making it across the border
Don't be too hard on the Canadians for leaving their posts. We had a shooting in Detroit a few years ago and we had ARMED officers run and hide! I don't blame the Canadians at all, they aren't armed and shouldn't be expected to risk thier lives in this situation. Apparently the Canadian government doesn't care enough about the security of thier country to arm their border officers so why should the border officers care enough to get into life threatening situations... I sure as hell wouldn't!
Same incident but different press sources.

Leaving when you know murderers are on their way straight to you and aren't going to stop and are PO'd at people in uniforms and you AREN'T ARMED is the only sensible thing to do!!!
Job also well done by the locals who ID'd the suspects and put the word out, and those who spotted them.

Don't forget a certain supervisor who wouldn't let his officers leave the building to go up on the bridge and assist DPD. He said it wasn't our job. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy.Originally Posted by chewy

It will be interesting to see what the fallout is with the guy who was resisting tonight at the bridge. From what I hear, the officers did everything right but one never knows what management's response is going to be. One of these days someone is going to get seriously hurt.

Chewy could you explain this a little better?
1.Officer in fight with guy on bus
2. Supervisor hadcuffs doors so other officers could not help above officer
3 Then???
Said supervisor needs his *** kicked and then some type of legal or civil suit filed due to his incompetence as a supervisor. How did this supervisor justify his actions?
This guy deserved to loose his job for that!!!
Can you say OFFICER SAFETY ISSUE
Chewy can and most normal Officers can. It's the BS management mind set that puts us at risk. Gotta keep the traffic flowing and the traveling public happy no matter what our safety situation is.:mad:Originally Posted by BP348
It is early, but it is looking ok for the Blaine Officers after the review of the video and reports, at least that is what I have gathered from the NWGPs.

Our managements idea of "Officer safety" is the thinking that if you don't do anything that my lead to you having to take action then you would be safe... They don't want us to do anything which makes our job much easier because we just have to sit there and collect paperwork...
Speaking of Officer safety FSCF3801, did you hear about the assult at FS yesterday? I didn't get the whole story about it but heard a little from Ashley. I guess they also got 500lbs at the same time from another unrelated truck?
