Our managements idea of "Officer safety" is the thinking that if you don't do anything that my lead to you having to take action then you would be safe... They don't want us to do anything which makes our job much easier because we just have to sit there and collect paperwork...

Chewy, haven't you figured out yet that management just thinks of you as a clerk with a badge and a gun? Oh, wait, do they even let you take your gun across the border?:D

Ummmm, no, they don't let us take our guns over there. The Canadians won't allow it, they don't like guns...freaks!

I read the report about the officer assault. Knee strikes to the common peroneal. Nice. Maybe a Taser would've come in handy, but OH MY GOD, it might kill somebody that might have a medical condition despite their aggression and threats or their abuse of drugs. Sorry. Hell, simple economics: It's cheaper to bury an officer than defend one in court for doing his or her job.
