Teddy was a rough rider who really didn't want to be president. He spoke his mind and didn't give a damn about what anyone else thought about it. He wasn't politically correct. And he was a distant relative of mine.

A few generations back, of course, and on my mother's side, to boot. But if you go back far enough, everyone's somehow related to someone who was important in history. My decendents will have the honor of being related to someone who had a devil ducky tattooed on her hip. ;) And by then, that will be almost as significant as being related to a president. :drug:The only difference between bravery and stupidity is timing.

Its really interesting that you bring up that you are related to President Roosevelt. I have done alot of research on my family history and I discovered I am related to 2 presidents.
During my research I found a book about American President family history (covers up to Clinton - I think.) I've got three presidents haunting my family tree - both Roosevelts and Taylor. Mr Ducky's mostly American Indian. He says that he's from a long line some of the best hide and seekers that ever walked the earth. :p

My great Aunt spent her lifetime researching and maintaining out family history. On my maternal side, I am realted to John Alden and Priscilla Mullens from the Mayflower (remember Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's The Courtship of Miles Standish?)

Seems that Ducky and I share a branch in the family tree as i am also related to both Roosevelt presidents. I don't know the exact path back (my dad is the one into that stuff). I do know that through the same line that takes my to the Roosevelt family, I am related to the kennedy family and the Bush family.
Apparently RO56 and I also share a line. My mother was related to a large number of pilgrims on the Mayflower including Mr. Alden and Ms MullinsPittsburgh Pirates- 1st place NL Central 7/15/11
