    Book: Lines and Shadows

This is a very good book written by Joseph Wambaugh. Its a true story about a San Diego Police department task force which worked the border in the early 80's. It is very detailed and extremely entertaining from the first page. I highly recommend it.

Great book. True story. I had lunch with Tony Puente in San Diego (I know, I'm a terrible name-dropper) a few years ago and he showed me around the SDPD, great bloke and had some hilarious stories. :D

Lt. Salgado did my oral interview when I was hired....he is very good to go. I was just thinking about that book today because I just found out I am heading to Southern Division where the book takes place....although it is very different now that Gatekeeper is in effect.......

I was working in San Ysidro when the BARF Team (Border Area Robbery task Force) was in operation. I shared an office with an Agent who had been on the team as a BP officer. It's an OK book, and even somewhat resembles what really happened.

Ernesto made Lt? Good for him. He was a Sgt. when I first met him in 1984 in San Diego. Second time I met him he was at the Academy which I think was/is out Miramar way.
