And I would think in a direct comparison with any other minority group...you would find they are no more or less prone to narcotics trafficking....When you have a large population of anything you get the good and the bad....I think if you were to look accross the board...the hispanic population legally in the US are very hard working people.

For example, in a place like Detroit with a large Arabic population those illegally in the US.... are more prone to be commiting illegal acts.....The question how do we stop the illegal immigration......For someone with a greater mind than me to fiqure out....Pistola

Not especially. The drug trafficking they do here is the wholesale business, not street dealers. They bring the stuff up from Mexico which is full of crooked cops, politicians and loaded with illegal drugs.

    Pistola,
Those are correct points your making, but focus the reality of geography and the co-dependence of Mexico on the USA for this topic. There would not be a failing of our economy if we stopped illegal immigration, not the same for Mexico. What we would see is a spike in prices and loss of revenue for lots of companies. Those "jobs Americans won't do" would be filled once we didn't have someone else to do them. If we don't fill them, then we go without. I hate to hear the comments that we need all the illegals to be here just so we aren't paying $4.00 for a single peach or apple. Consumers here would eventually re-regulate prices of the producers back to managable due to the law of supply and demand. We as a nation do get a benefit out of immigration, but at a massive cost that I don't want to bear anymore. Mexico is pompus and arrogant in its belief that Americans owe them an open border or any rights once they make it here illegally. Fox is the biggest baffoon of the moment for the remarks he made yesterday.
"MEXICO CITY — President Vicente Fox (search) came under criticism Saturday after saying Mexicans were willing to take jobs "that not even blacks want to do in the United States."

Fox's remark Friday came a day after Mexico (search) announced it would formally protest recent U.S. immigration reforms, including the decision to extend walls along the border and make it harder for illegal migrants to get driver's licenses.

"There's no doubt that the Mexican men and women — full of dignity, willpower and a capacity for work — are doing the work that not even blacks want to do in the United States," Fox told a meeting of the Texas-Mexico Frozen Food Council in the western city of Puerto Vallarta (search) on Friday.

The Mexican newspaper Milenio cited "Vicente Fox's racist comment" in a small front-page headline, while the newspaper Reforma called the president's words "controversial."

The Rev. Jesse Jackson told a cable news network the comments were "unwitting, unnecessary and inappropriate."

He said the president "should not confuse the need for sound legal immigration policy between the two countries, which is important, and the border disputes between the two countries, with a spurious comparison."

Now California is trying to get its own Border Police to stifle the influx of illegals. That is in its infancy, and we will have to wait and see how that goes.

I see it this way...The argument is that illegals are doing the jobs "whites" won't do. However, I don't know many LEGAL citizens that would want to work for $4.00 an hour without bennies. Given the opportunity, legal workers, white or mexican, would probably soak up those jobs once they were on par with the rest of the legal economy. The problem is that illegal workers are paid much less and provide nil tax revenue or anything economically productive. I would be willing to pay $4.00 for an apple if I could guarantee that the people picking them will be paying into my social security, healthcare, and children's education just like I do for them.

I can also testify to the fact that the NUMBER ONE most wide-spread drug in my whole county of 1 million people is Methamphetamine, and that the NUMBER ONE source of the trafficking is from illegals coming from the south. Illegal Mexican operations are absolutely devastating in my area and have huge ties to the county just north of me. They pass through making their deliveries and have put many of their competitors out of business. La Eme and other like minded organizations have a devastating foothold in NorCal and use the illegals as their "mules." Trust me, illegal border crossing from the south is more of a problem here for me everyday than the handful of Syrians and Haitians running about. Plus, it is more likely that the majority of the 11 million+ illegals in the US came across from a border in the southern states more so than anywhere else. Put a huge wall with electrified razor wire and mix a bunch of anthrax into the dirt to deter digging and be done with the whole friggin mess!!! I don't care what race they are, illegals are illegal, and on that principle alone, the whole country should be up in arms about it.

    RANT O...To be continued...undoubtedly.

I care. And I hope things get tougher for all illegals. As it has been stated, there is a process to work here. USE IT. I would love to see some numbers on the cost of caring for the illegals in this country and the tax revenue lost because of them. Then we could send the bill to that AS%#$*E Fox.

And hitnrun and there in..... is my point......Mexican is the cuture that comes up against at the border.....But for example they are not violent in nature...Look at the borders of Iraq and the dealth and distruction caused by the insurgents....

My point is this you say you would be willing to pay four dollars for a apple...that is 300% increase...Take your whole grocery bill and times that by the same....$110...a week goes to $330....That is a car payment plus....

I have no quick solutions but what I am am saying is they people are coming over and working generally not trying to blow us up....With education and legal immigration we can have a good relationship. Canada is a good example of a neighbor that works generally well with us....I have hope and respect for the Mexican people.

After that do we need to shut down the borders I see no other way....It is not a entitlement to be able to illegally migrate into the US and that is what I am hearing from the MX Goverment and that needs to stop and stop now.....Regards, Pistola

We'll save the money in health care and taxes that previously covered the cost of free health care for illegals.

Pistola, refer to my previous post about economics. It would be a drastic inflation for a temporairy period of time. However, those ranchers, and orchard owners would be forced to drop prices once the demand slacked off. I propose we use our nations incarcerated to do the jobs nobody wants to do. It would be a one for one swap for the inmate. One day working means one day on a reduced sentence. I quickly point out, that this would be for lesser senteced inmates who are not up on rape, murder, armed robbery type charges. It could potentially create the fix we need. A shoring up of work force to eliminate some influx and need for illegal immigrants would reduce the availibility of ready jobs for them. It would cause a demand for more LEO to manage these inmates in the local environment work areas, and it would lessen the sentences of which tax payers are paying for. Our prision system utilizes prisoner work force production all the time. Why not continue and make it more expandable to the nations epidemic.

I have also seen 100,000 legal immigrants including my husband (who's a 1811 by the way) and in-laws doing the right thing. You keep throwing out that stat but that is 4000 people........ take one a border town of Juarez with 2,000,000...and suddenly that number is put in persepective and that is the population of just one border town. Mexico needs to simply understand our right to sovernity. It is not a right to be here...They are intolerant....of us stepping into their polictical processes but they are sucking our heath care and social services dry I beleive if you are here illegally you get nothing....

My town has quite a few farming areas around it. HUGE mexican population. MS-13 now has roots in my town as well as the farming area's. I see the graffiti all over the place. When we had our gang training at the academy OPD's gang unit Sgt. came and spoke to us on them. They've been doing some pretty violent crimes around here and have become a huge problem in Apopka (my town).

And Valor have you actually ever been in a Central American slum???? I have my work takes me to Central and South America and Asia. Right now, I live in Arlington VA. and I can tell you even with this huge hispanic population it is no were near the wood huts and dirt floors... I have seen in a Central Amercia slum.

I work with a language professor that is from El Salvador after six hours of work with me everyday he goes to a second job...He has travelled the world and is a hard working... kind... law.abiding citizen that is not only teaching me a language but our military personnel...He is here legally...his parents brought him here legally...

My Grandparents came here legally from the Ukraine and cleaned toilets at the Crysler building in NY.

Common demoniator....Legally....Hispanics are generally hard working... Mexicans are generally hard working...

Lets start with real solutions like fineing the hell out of buisnesses that are using this illegal work force and exploiting already poor people...Lets close our borders till we get this under control....I don't care, but to say hispanics are the root of all evil...is just wrong and racist....

Pistola, you are/were an 1811? You should get verified through Switchback or DC Law. This discussion is great, and the implications of officer safety can be discussed in greater detail in the secure section.
