Number Of Illegal Immigrants Passing Through Iowa Is Up
Officials Say 281 Illegal Immigrants Found

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Immigration officials say this may be a record year for illegal immigrants using the state's major highways for smuggling operations.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency said during the current fiscal year, 281 suspected illegal immigrants were found in 25 vehicles on Interstate Highway 80 and Interstate Highway 35.

The fiscal year ends Sept. 30. During the 2004 fiscal year, 193 suspected illegal immigrants were arrested in 12 separate vehicles on the same highways.

This year, drivers of six vehicles have been prosecuted, and three have pleaded guilty.

It's because they are coming up I-35 by the bus load and ICE won't come get them unless they have warrants or fake ID Cards..... :rolleyes:

Next time a bus load of them ask for directions to somewhere.....I will send them your way via I-70 and give you a call with make, model and license plate info.... :D
