Hey out there!
I came across this site when I was actually looking for the "I love a cop" book through Google. And... Wow! Great to know I am not alone. Very interesting forum! I like that there's a place where I can talk to others in my situation.
Now to introduce myself... I've been in the Marine Corps for almost six years now, I'm 23 year of age (just turned!) and I've been deployed twice and almost got sent to Afghanistan again for a deployment later next month. (phew!) Luckily I am EAS'ing and am Oscar Miking outta here! Lol! And I must say, I THOUGHT being an infantry rifleman in the Marine Corps was kinda rough but seeing the person I love wear that badge proudly, despite all the BS and stress it comes with... Just makes me shake my head with disbelief and pride.
I see now that I am fortunate to get those wake up calls and random calls throughout the day to see how I'm doing and being told how much I am loved and cared about. We haven't been together for that long but already we are inseparable. The scheduling sometimes is inconvenient, 4 days on-3 off, then vice versa... Court appearances... Training classes... And the hours... But there's a lot of effort and I see how good I have it, At the moment... But I'm in for the long haul. Being in the military and having that set schedule and rigorous lifestyle, its easy to understand the LEO lifestyle... But still, You are all right when you all say it takes a lot to be a LEO wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend. You gotta be strong and understanding and you have to listen, communication is DEFINITELY key and fighting or arguing during the only small amount of time you two get when they're off duty is... Sucky! But I'm sure a lot of you wives/husbands know about this!!! For the first time ever, now I'M the one worrying about gun fights or my booboo getting hurt or worse ( :[ ) on the job. But I have lots of support for my badge wearer.
One thing that's I find really funny is, how that gun has to go absolutely EVERY WHERE with us... Walmart, restaurants, malls, parks... Lol.. EVERY WHERE!!!
Are there any other little quirks or habits you notice about your LEO when they're off duty?? Would b funny if there's similar ones.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and see what advice any experienced spouses have to give.

We don't have the "gun everywhere" in Australia, which is nice me thinks.

Specter hmmm advice...I say just put into the relationship what you get back it has to be 50/50 or you definately have to give more then you take ,yes sometimes work will get in the way or become stressful but so will life, I think being a military/Leo/medical spouse you have to learn to separate your personal life from your career for some it comes easy for others not so much their lives our consumed by their dedication to the job ( I speak of this from personal experience). The most important factor really is communication if you lack that you might as well just throw in the towel, it is the ultimate building block of ANY type of relationship. You say that you have not been together long but you are in the long haul, I do believe that you can know when you meet that special person early on because they are different then the rest, myself I have only been in three serious relationships my whole life one was five years, one was a year and me and my husband have been together for 10 years married for eight. which I think is a HUGE accomplishment now a days good luck to you in your endeavors!

Howdy specter! Welcome to RP. I think I have been married so long that my wife does not worry about me at work. I do know she hates my schedule and that can be because she can't keep up with it. lol
