Sorry I forgot to mention one more bad thing about myself. I use to play a lot of computer games and I would use a lot of hacks / cheats / viruses to "hack" into people's accounts and take their stuff. This was from age 14 to 17.

Ah I'm really sorry for the triple posts and what not, truly apologize.

I am also fluent in Arabic (not so much writing but speaking it I'm pretty good).

You need to give your current age but I must say you seem to have a propensity for stealing. That would concern me.

    Hey Greg,

Sorry I didn't make it clear enough; I'm 21 (turning 22 in a few months) now and the stealing happened through age 15-18. Yeah I can't hide the fact that I've been a thief throughout my teen years. I've been on the internet through out my life and readings guides on how to trick companies for free stuff had caught my attention. Shouldn't be an excuse though and it isn't. Thanks for the feed back though.

    Do not add up

If you are still stealing office supplies then the stealing is STILL happening, it didn't stop at 18.
If you are at a crime scene are you going to steal a pen (or a watch, or a wad of bills) if you see it laying around?

I get your point on where you're coming from but being realistic here, taking a 25 cent pen where as no one has claimed it (e.g. A pen of a restaurant floor) isn't going to show im willing to take a wad of cash, a wallet, or a watch.

Maybe I didn't explain the pen situation enough. If I were at a retail store and a pen happened to be there and I know they sell them, I wouldn't dare taking it. I'm talking about a pen in the middle of the floor whereas no one is in sight to might of dropped it. It's like you find 5 dollars on the street once you park your vehicle; if you see someone walking away from the 5 dollars you can easily make out he dropped it. If you see no one in sight, are you going to leave it? no, lets be honest here you'll pocket it. If I like the pen and no one seems as if they were to drop it, it i'll use it for myself to do my work. If not, I'll drop it on a table and leave.

It's not the pen issue only, it's the fact that you were actively trying to scam businesses and doing so successfully. You may actually even be a kleptomaniac: Kleptomania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It shows that you lack integrity which is EVERYTHING in this job. Making excuses like "oh it was just laying around/it was nobodies etc" to me, would raise the concern that you make excuses and would lie to cover up a mistake and or blow it off like it's no big deal.

When I eat at a restaurant and I'm in uniform, I do not pocket the pen that is provided to sign my bill with no matter how well it writes. Not just because I wouldn't do that anyhow, but because it gives my department and my co-workers a bad image. Everything you do in and out of uniform, is reflected upon your department and fellow officers.

Also, your background to me, makes me think that you don't have the experience and maturity to become a cop at 21 or in the near future. The amount of time between your so called "dark side" and now is not that much of a gap.

The job market right now is saturated with guys that have military, college or a combination of both applying for the job. Having good grades doesn't mean anything when you are going up against former law enforcement, former MP's and guys with degrees that have been working for awhile while getting life experience. To have very little life experience, a predisposition for taking that which is not yours and arguing as to why you did what you did does not in my mind make you a good candidate for law enforcement.

I could be wrong in my assessment, but I'm just going off of the information that you provided us and your overall demeanor in your responses. If you made mistakes in the past like most of us have, just man up and admit to them without making excuses or trying to make it sound insignificant.

Part of my Poly before becoming a LEO asked if I had taken office supplies, little things from work, etc. - given what you have written you would fail that portion. If you still take things then you are stealing them, if you were my partner and I knew every time that I rode with you I couldn't bring a nice pen or piece of gear because you would attempt to steal it, then that makes you a thief with a badge.

If your answer to the above is "well I wouldn't steal a pen from a cop" then why the hell are you stealing everyone else's pens?

I know *I* personally wouldn't hire you with what you just told me because you have the potential to give my department a bad name, especially due to the fact that you don't seem to consider taking small things that aren't immediately attached to their owner as stealing, or abusing deals from companies by taking advantage of discounts given in good faith (i.e. if you will abuse coupons at a restaurant you work at, you would abuse the programs designed by companies like Oakley, Merrells, etc. to aid law enforcement/military in acquiring their gear).

    My 2-cents.
