    What's Going On?

    Hi all,

I am on the high up on the eligibility list for a few departments in the area. A few weeks ago a background investigator called me wanting to know if I was still interested in employment, to which I replied yes. He said that another investigator would call in a few weeks to further the process. I waited 3 weeks and 4 days and another investigator called me wanting to know when he could come to my house for a home interview. Everything sounded legitimate. We had set up a time for him to be at my house this past Wednesday between 15:00 -16:00 but he did not come to my house. I called the department the next day in the morning and left a message on his voice mail and I still have not heard anything back from him. Did I do something wrong? I have no record so that can't be it. Is it common for police investigators to do this? Thanks for any responses.

More than likely he got tied up with another issue, not uncommon, most departments don't have investigators that deal with backgrounds exclusively. Give him a couple of more days to get back with you, if you haven't heard, call back.

    Good luck.

I appreciate the response. My dad seemed to think they read my text messages and went through my facebook and found all sorts of horrible things on there. My texts for the most part are clean and I don't have anything bad on facebook. Thank you for clearing my mind some!

No offense but if you're dad has never done a background investigation I'd take what he says with a grain of salt. During the background investigation you can worry yourself into a mess (panicing about how something insignificant like stealing a pack of gum when you were 5 will disqualify you), or you can try to live your life as if you never applied and letting the process work it's way through. All of us understand what you're going through, we had to go through it ourselves (some of us mulitple times with different agencies). Sucks, but the easiest route is to go on with life as if you haven't applied so you don't dwell on it too much.

And even some of us have had to do it multiple times with the SAME agency! It does suck, but just hang in there...

Understood. I have had a lifetime of his "explanations" to where I'm taking everything with a grain of salt. I figure I will call again Monday. If I don't hear a response after my two calls, time to move on. I appreciate the responses.
