Took Generic Viagra - Drug Use?

First time posting here, and I have a question regarding the taking of generic viagra (sildenafil citrate). I have searched high and low, and cannot seem to find any information on whether this would be a DQ. I have made it through most of the hiring process (PT, oral board) and have the background investigation coming up. The department I have applied for has no published drug policy, and I need to determine if I should take anymore vacation days to keep moving ahead or just cut my losses.

Not a LEO but Arizona has a POST certification drug policy that applies to everyone applying to be an sworn officer in the state, It's my understanding that "dangerous drugs" and "narcotics" are DQ. They refer to a statute that lists what those are. Viagra doesn't seem to fall into those categories but is in separate category known as "prescription only drugs." "prescription only drugs" don't appear to be a DQ but is a misdemeanor to possess it according to my laymen reading. It's a felony to sell it.

Thanks for the response. In looking at the State standards, not for the specific department, it just mentions narcotics as well (and gives examples). It seems pretty clear that sildenafil citrate does not qualify as a narcotic. In researching this a bit more, it also appears that what I bought is available anywhere online (even Amazon.com has many similar items). In reality what I likely took was a mixture of blue ink and dry wall. I suppose I need to just stop stressing, as this will likely just fall into one of those "case by case" decisions.

If I were you , I wouldn't buy any " prescription drug" from Amazon or any other on-line site.

I seriously doubt Amazon sells prescription drugs. I suspect you were looking at food supplements or vitamins. Don't minimize it, you got it from some overseas supplier that illegally ships it in. Just because it's on line doesn't mean it's legal by any means.

Amazon does sell a bunch of "knock offs", but not the actual drug. In searching around from various online sites, some of them that claim to sell sildenafil citrate actually originate in the US - and the package comes from the US via first class mail. However, none of it really matters as far as I am concerned. What is done is done, and I will just disclose what happened and let them make the decision. It does seem evident from looking at various agencies that it is not an auto DQ, which provides some measure of hope.

My 0.02 is that you disclose it as to what though it was when you bought it and when you took. If both those answers are "Viagra" then I wouldn't change it to "blue drywall" to make yourself look better when your intent was to commit the crime. It will only make you look like you are lying.

Let's put it this way. If you were a cop and found a small baggie packaged as drugs on a person and they guy says he bought baking powder and it wasn't cocaine, you aren't going to believe him. The 20 year veteran cop doing BI's isn't going to believe you when you tell him the little blue pill you bought was really blue drywall. Could be different I guess but if someone told me that, they are either too deceitful or too stupid to be hired. My non-LEO 0.02.

There is no denying why I bought it. I obviously didn't buy it hoping that it was ink toner. While it is not a good thing to have on my record, I don't believe it is a DQ. However, my main issue is I will not have completed the BI until after I have received an offer - which seems odd. This wouldn't be that big of a deal if I wasn't leaving my current job for a possible LE position. My dilema is I would have to leave my current job on the hope that this wouldn't DQ me throught the BI process.

If Amazon or any other company in the USA was selling prescription drugs w/o a legal prescription, the DEA would be on them like a frog on a junebug.

No, you may have more of a problem regarding buying it than actually taking it.

So, let me get this straight. You bought the Viagra clone on-line from Amazon.com. If that is the case I wouldn't be too worried. If you are 100% straight with us here and have taken NOTHING else, other than an asprin or Advil, I recomend YOU SAY NOTHING.
